Default Smart Key access for your home?

Is there such a thing? I love being able to just open up my car with my keys in my pocket, I would love to be able to do the same thing with my house. A quick search online and I couldn't find anything (fingerprint or access codes don't count in my mind). Does anyone know of anything? I assume you would have to run power to it, or perhaps it would run on battery power, but I think it would be worth the hassle. I figure one of you smart guys would know.

I've seen keypad entry locks on front doors of homes before.

There are a number of fob-type remotes for unlocking your home. Those I've seen require a battery, and a bit of installation. I assume they would work in conjunction with your security system's remote.

Usually proximity fobs are used in businesses, but it is very easy to fit them to any door or other device. Many a geek has rigged their house to work off proximity fobs, as the prox sensors can operate virtually any item when the fob is detected, as it acts as a simple switch. Some more creative uses go so far as to include putting a fob on your pet's collar and a sensor on its pet door so that it can freely use the door but it remains secure when not in use. They are also easily integrated into most alarm systems.

I saw on a TV show about a man who had computerized his home, including keyless entry. The kids wore watches that had passive RFID tags in them so that when they came home, they had to wave them close to a reader and when recognized, the front door would be unlocked.

This is the same technology that we are all used to now at work with employee IDs that have the passive RFID (no battery required) tags embedded in them; we swipe them against the reader to go in or out of the building and perhaps into restricted rooms.
