Both the Avalon and ES are selling well. In Feb the Avalon outsold the ES 5703/4817. It will be interesting to see if this continues. YTD the Avalon leads in sales 10543/10003.

If I was in the market I'd lean towards the Avalon.

Saw a few of these in real life now and I must say they look fantastic! Especially with the LED DRL on. That front grille looks much better in person.

Nice video, the comment about the slidding fan control not working with gloves is probably just hear say. I have had really thick winter gloves on, and the fan control worked everytime I touched it.
Being too lazy to to read the manual, I've learned from the video how to switch the info panel display

This car is growing on me everyday. I have over 1500 miles on it now, so I believe the break-in is completed.
I have never driven the old model Avalon, because I didn't like the styling. Therefore I can only compare my car to the GS/IS/RX I had previously. This is the best one for DD either city or highway cruising. The V6 works extremely well with the transmission. I believe it behaves better than the GS430 off the line. The gear shifts are very smooth, and seem to get into the right gear very quickly as dictated by the gas pedal. It handles rough road surfaces better than all of them. The simpler touch controls for everything including the Nav just work so well that I do not miss the mouse and buttons.
With that said, I believe the Lexus vehicles appear to have better paint finish. I am also sure that body materials and assemblies are put together on a different level of care and details.
I am hoping that this car has the typical Toyota reliability, because I can see myself keeping it way beyond the end of my business write off cycle.

BTW, I've test-driven two new Avalons (gas and hybrid) and a new non-hybrid Lexus ES, and, given the choice, I'd take either Avalon over the ES, though I wasn't totally happy with the new suspensions/tires on either car.

I'm not claiming that your particular salesperson was dishonest, but don't necessarily believe everythng salespeople tell you. Though they are generally more honest now than in the past (and there are indeed some excellent ones), as a group, they didn't get the notorious reputation they have for nothing.

I drove a fully loaded Avalon, along with several other vehicles, before finally deciding on my ES. While it rode about the same as the ES, it just didn't feel right for me. I didn't like the cap touch buttons, or the nav. The radio sounded like garbage compared to the ML in the ES. Just too many little things that didn't make up for the money I'd have saved. Oh, and it also made me feel about 15 years older.

side and rear profile is nice, but the front end is confusing. Proportions are all out of place. Kinda weird.
