Official: Chevy Spark confirmed for US

General Motors wants to take on all segments of the automotive industry. With the all-new Sonic making its way to dealerships later this year, GM will have a new player in the B-segment, and now, a tweet from the automaker has confirmed that the Chevrolet Spark minicar is officially arriving Stateside.
The diminutive Spark will allow GM to have a hand in all areas of the automotive cookie jar. As American car buyers begin to embrace smaller, more efficient modes of transportation, the Spark could be arriving at the perfect time. We got our first glimpse of the automaker's mini at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, and we were intrigued by the idea of a Chevrolet achieving a combined 47 miles per gallon. Now, it seems we'll get to experience green machine for ourselves on U.S. soil, starting sometime in 2012.

Not sure how different the production version will look in the US, but the Spark just has too many weird, oversize shapes and angles. It's actually been on sale elsewhere for almost 2 years now.
I can't see this selling that well, when you can just get a bigger Sonic that will probably be comparably priced. We'll see.
If I'm going to buy a micro-car, the Toyota/Scion iQ is the only way to go. Thing is, that's overpriced too.

Looks to me like, as a borderline-A-segment car, it will compete here with the Fiat 500, Mini-Cooper, and the upcoming Scion IQ (which will be marketed as a Toyota in non-U.S.-markets). I plan to review one when it debuts in my area.....and I'll write it up if there are any requests to do so.

Leave it to Gm to FINALLY start listening to the people and start building cars that some WANT to own and drive and then come up with something like this which apeals to very little. This is how they got into the financial woes they were in last time.
Do you mean competing in the A-segment, or because you feel this design sucks?
