2nd Gear: The car above is the Ferrari Superamerica 45, a custom-built model assembled by Ferrari for New York collector Peter Kalikow. Set for a debut tomorrow, the Superamerica 45 was commissioned by Kalikow to celebrate his 45 years of being a Ferrari owner. The design features a carbon-fiber rotating hard-top which incorporates a rear screen. The trunk is entirely new to house the roof when open, and is now in carbon-fiber with design changes to reduce drag and increase rear downforce. The Ferrari Superamerica 45 also features a specific chromed front grille and special burnished aluminium A-pillars, wing mirrors and door handles.

Now that looks nice
I love the GTO and the 599 but this looks a tad overdone. A ferrari is a Ferrari. No matter what its an amazing machine but I think the 458 looks nicer

According to the article below, he owns 45 Ferraris.
Kalikow has described himself as "obsessed" with Ferraris. He isn't kidding: He owns some 45 vintage models, plus a variety of other collector cars. His favorite? A 1961 Ferrari 250GT California—the same model that appeared in Ferris Bueller's Day Off—which is worth more than $1 million.

Ferrari has done several one off cars in the past. I have a collection of the shots somewhere on my computer. Each time the owners were charges between 3.8 and 4.5 million. INSANITY!!!! I would take a Veyron and deal with the fact that there are another few hundred . LOL
It's a real shame that Ferrari is only building one Superamerica 45, because the car is gorgeous. Besides the lovely Blu Antille paint, the flying buttresses that mold the roof structure into the rear bodywork, and the body-colored wheels, this thing has one of the slickest roof mechanisms out there.
Hit a button, and the lid on the 599 GTB Fiorano-based roadster does a full backflip, executing a perfect landing on the car's rear deck. It's quick and sleek, and really helps sell the entire package. Like we said earlier, the Superamerica 45 is a one-off, built especially for collector Peter Kalikow.
Kalikow commissioned the car to be a modern version of the 1961 Ferrari Superamerica 400 that graces his collection. Color us envious.
