Its sad and I hope the guy gets whats coming to him. We all need to be vigilante when driving and not assume people will stop. Young drivers are naive and they pull out in front of me all the time here on campus where I work and I'm doing speed limit. The kids pull out and go snail speed causing me to brake hard or go around them. Not defending this guy for racing just saying people need to be more aware of there surroundings.

True but the 35mph speed limit may have been enacted on this road because you cannot stop for someone pulling out if you are going faster. So there wouldn't be any way to place any blame on the person pulling out in this case. Guy was at twice the speed limit, and that's just by his own admission so it may be have been much higher.

I do understand what you're saying though.

You know what I like about the 144 mph video above. He saw the cherries and knew he could be going to jail and accepted responsibility for it. He may have gotten a break this time but does seem to understand how stupid of a mistake he just made.

A 19 year old driving a CLS63 caused the crash and killed the woman, and was released on a $500,000 bail. Wow.

I hope he gets a bullet in his head.
Very sad, just poor judgement.

Two men have been charged in connection with a Santa Clara street race that ended with the death of a San Jose woman who got caught in the middle, authorities said Friday.

Chandra Purnama, 21, of San Francisco and Vincent Mergonoto, 19, of San Jose were each charged in Santa Clara County Superior Court with vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence in a crash last month that killed Ashley Krieger, 23.

Shortly before 11 p.m. on March 20, Mergonoto was driving a Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 while racing Purnama, who was behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Corvette, Santa Clara police said.

Mergonoto struck Krieger's Honda Civic on Kiely Boulevard as she was leaving her job at the AMF Moonlite Lanes bowling alley, authorities said. Krieger was knocked unconscious by the impact and was hospitalized until her death Sunday.

Mergonoto suffered minor injuries and was arrested.

Purnama was not involved in the crash but was taken into custody after he parked the Corvette away from the accident site and came back to the scene, police said. Purnama was also charged with falsely impersonating his older brother when initially questioned by police.

I bet they don't want to as well but they must because the kids may just pisto-whip them (like the dumb girl in FL)...

Sad story. Make sure they pay for their mistakes.

Parents must be stinking rich, got the kid a CLS63 and bailed him out at 500k? Parents must REALLY suck at parenting.
