Chris Bangle lives
Guess his "consultancy" wasn't as appealing as working for Samsung, although I hear the phones will get bigger on the bottom and Samsung cell phone owners will automatically be ridiculed by cell owners of other manufacturers

Just the Facts:
•Chris Bangle, the former head of BMW design, will work with Samsung, the Korean consumer electronics giant, on such projects as mobile phones and computing devices, according to reports from Korea.
•Samsung reportedly will set up a European studio for Bangle.
•The Korean company has established a global reputation for design excellence.
SEOUL — Chris Bangle, the former head of BMW design, will work with Samsung, the Korean consumer electronics giant, on such projects as mobile phones and computing devices, according to reports from Korea.
Korea's JoongAng Daily said Bangle "has agreed to cooperate with Samsung Electronics" on "several major design projects," but said the American-born designer will not work exclusively for Samsung.
The publication also said: "Hyundai Motor was also known to be aggressively trying to recruit Bangle as its new head of design. But Bangle declined the offer."
Bangle, in response to an email query from Inside Line, said, "Sorry, but the policy here is to comment only on our published work."
Bangle, who worked for Fiat earlier in his career, headed design at BMW from 1992 to 2009. He left the company to form his own consultancy, Chris Bangle Associates, in Piemonte, Italy, south of Turin.
The company's Web site states: "We are a Design and Design Management Consultancy focused on the products and ideas that move you; physically or emotionally! Not just 'Planes, Cars, Ships & Things that Go.'"
The Korea Times on Monday quoted a Samsung spokesman as saying the company "is working with Bangle on a specific project basis. If he signs a formal contract with us, then he will take the role of advisor."
Quoting a senior Samsung official, JoongAng Daily added: "This is an investment to secure a famous global designer in order to make our designs more luxurious . . . We will set up a design research center for Bangle in a European location, such as Italy, and have about 10 researchers from Samsung work with him."
Samsung in recent years has been recognized for design excellence in its consumer electronics products.
Inside Line says: Bangle has a well-deserved reputation for pushing the envelope and seeing the future from a unique perspective. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
