Default 2011 Calgary Auto Show

I had a chance to pop in to the Calgary Auto Show and have a look at some of the vehicles that have caught my attention lately.

A few things of note:

- The Equus is an attractive vehicle (minus the hideous chrome wheels). At $65K up here it is great value compared to a $97K LS460, $105K S450 or a $112K XJ. They had it up on a pedestal which makes no sense.
You would think if they were trying to sell a new flagship they would make it more accessible. Look forward to actually driving it soon.

- The Boss 302 is a hot car (no pic, sorry). For $50K it is an incredible performance bargain.

- The LFA is beautiful and special. Imo, it commands just as much "wow" factor as many of the other exotics. Would have been nice if they at least had it on the ground or with the doors open so we could see the interior better.

- Porsche had a sexy GT2 RS there. What a car! Not a huge fan of the color scheme of this one, but I know what it's capable of.

- AM had a nice display with several cars. They had a done up V8 Vantage that was pretty hot....but it was also $200K. $30K just in CF upgrades....lol.

- Had an interesting chat with both Porsche & AM about importing a car in from the States. Full factory warranty is transferrable, but they are getting very aggressive up here with closing the price gap. Going to be interesting to see how close they can get to some of the deals down there.

- Hadn't seen the Converj before. Definitely grabs your attention and the interior looks very innovative for a GM product and especially a Cadillac.

-The A7 is just ok imo. It isn't nearly as attractive as the original renderings were. Nothing really special about it, imo.

- MB had a matte black SL550 that was ok. The frozen grey CLS was dead sexy.

Anyways, thought some of you might enjoy the pics.

Great pics! Thanks for sharing. I agree, the A7 looks okay, but not spectacular like it could have. Dig that color on the AM. Looks like Glacier Frost Mica, which we've talked about here before.

Thx for sharing CDN As always, I'd take Aston over anything else I saw (no Boss pics)...

but...

What was your take on the new BMW 1-series M coupe? I haven't seen one in person and this is really growing on me.... did the BMW configurator in Black and Alpine White, $53K loaded so it's right with the Stangs... is it small??

C. - Luv the pics. They had the Equus on the floor at San Jose show, I was surprised how little attention it received compared to LS, XJ, S-class which were also open and on floor in separate areas.

I'm not really sure as it was up on the pedestal. It will certainly be interesting to see what it feels like in real life. You can see in the pic, some interior scuffs on the drivers side seat. Ridiculous for a show car that is their flagship.

Yes it does.

It was pretty cool, that pic with the lady bending down....she's actually helping a toddler sit in the car for pics.

I was surprised with the layout. Nice cars from pretty much all of the major players.

The DBS is an amazing car. Not sure I could rock something like that color though....lol.

I'd pick the Boss all day over the 1M. I've never been a fan of the 1 series and it is very little. Design just does nothing for me. I'm sure it will be a fun car to drive but I'd be far more interested in an M3 than this entry level, baby M.

There was literally nobody looking at this car when I was there. All their entry level stuff was getting looked at and discussed with sales guys. I was shocked they put it on a pedestal. All the cars you mentioned were on the floor here as well too. There were several things I will have to reserve judgement on until I drive it, but it is a luxury bargain. It certainly doesn't have the wow factor or panache of the established cars you mentioned. I'm just not sure what to make of it at this point.

i can't say i am excited about 1M at all...

yeah, all those scuffs and wrinkles on the driver and rear passenger seats of equus, man... i was able to sit in it back at LA show 2 yrs ago. it's nice, impressive for a hyundai, but among other luxury vehicles, it still has a bit way
