Then a day later, Pagani said that they will decide to pursue installation of an airbag costing additional USD$4,000,000 cost of investment for the said installation. The launch of the fishmobile will be delayed by one year to make way for the installation http://www.worldcarfans.com/11108103...egulations-for
It also made me laugh before. Pagani sells a car for a million bucks price tag yet it doesn't even have an airbag. Seriously, are we still in the 20th century???

Perhaps you should read closer...
The Huayara has airbags in all models, it was designed with them. It does not have "advanced" airbags, as required in all models sold in the US as of this time...
The 5.7 million (it was 4 million euro) is what it is going to cost them to refit the Huayara with advanced airbags, which it was originally designed to accommodate, but did not include...

Ah, my bad.
I guess this was about multi-stage airbags then.
Well imho, it seemed to appear that Pagani wanted to ask for an exemption. Well, imho, it's still not an excuse. You're charging such a huge price tag and yet they can't even offer what I presume something that even a Nissan Versa has?

One would think huh... Lamborghini, Tesla, Panoz and Koenigsegg already have this exemption though, so, Pagani was just trying to get a couple years worth of model sales before they got it installed...
The other thing is that they only plan on selling 15 of these in the US... I'm not surprised they are waiting til 2013 to bring the car here... it probably has something to do with cost vs. profits along with research...

I'm surprised that some other forumers complained and ranted that "DOT + NHTSA = government goons" or that "obama and his government are meddling into things that they shouldn't be in" etc etc
Well if I were Pagani, I would comply instead of fighting the regulations and not get my car sold.
I totally digged the looks of the previous Pagani Zonda, but the new Huayara looks too
organic for my tastes. However, the specs and the technology, like the active aerodynamics, is pretty awesome.
