They are negotiating using certain engines, especially for Europe. But that's an entirely different thing than this. I still say it sounds fishy but hey, weirder things have happened. I stand by my statement that Nissan doesn't need anything from AMG.

i completely agree with 1SICKLEX. IPL should come from infiniti and nissan, not mercedes' amg. this heart that he referred to, drivers can feel it when they drive. even if the amg powered infiniti produced better numbers and faster times, i don't thnk drivers would be proud to drive it, at least i know a few who wouldn't. amg belongs on a benz, and that's it.

I would still prefer that they source from their own stables. For instance, if they need to extract more power out of let's say the VK56VD engine, then they can ask NISMO to do it for them. Heck, NISMO was able to push the old VK45DE engine can be pushed as far as 800 horsepower by removing the restrictions....

With an newer engine, I believe that such a thing can be done.

No need IMHO to look for other brands (outside the Renault-Nissan alliance) to borrow engines

If that's the case, I'll never have an Infiniti in my garage. Those AMG engines are not what people tout them to be. "Hand built engine with the Mechanic's Signature" blah blah blah... Wait til you hit 26k miles on one and start looking for oil leaks, listen on valve ticking noises, and look for more oil leaks.

This would only make sense if they didnt have turboed V6 and big V8 engines. But they do.

So I call this bogus.
