Default Cambodians love Lexus SUVs

One of Asia's poorest countries, but its streets are filled with Lexus SUVs! Did not expect that. Sadly, they have large tacky Lexus stickers on the sides.

Probably the highest Lexus to other cars ratio I've seen, and I live in Vancouver!

It's my original country. It's named the one of the poorest country in Asia because of government's corruption. Actually, many people in the city are rich, but yeah, more than 30% of those in the provinces are poor.

All Lexus cars and SUV are imported directly from the US since they use left handed car. Cambodians love LX and LC so much because of legendary off-road capability, thanks to difficult roads in the provinces.

LOL@ tacky Lexus sticker. When I was 15, my dad got his 99 Lexus RX300 with that tacky sticker. the next day, I removed them all, and had it painted the lower side, which was gray, black. He is still driving it over there, and it hits over 250K already.

Toyota/Lexus are almost 75% of overall cars driven over there. Most people told me that the underpart and suspension of Honda were too soft to endure road over there. If you visit Cambodia, you will see handful of Hilux as well.

Yeah, many are LCs, but lots of LXs and RXs too.

Quite interesting how Lexus has such a good reputation even in countries (like Cambodia) where it doesn't have an official presence (no Lexus dealers!).

Its like you either own a motorbike, Camry or Lexus SUV.

For safety reasons alone there , I would certainly pick the large SUV.

@ 1SICKLEX: You're welcome. And I'm one of people who grew up with Toyota/Lexus(only).

@ lex-phil: Hopefully, there will be one in the next few years. Recently, there are also many LS's, and GS's presences over there. I just had a trip back home months ago.

I envy people over that can have both Asian and the US Camry.

I'm Cambodian(born in US) so I am familar with the affinity between Cambodians and Lexus/Toyota. Heck, even here in the US Lexus/Toyota is pretty much all that Cambodians drive. Go to Long Beach and you'll know what I mean.

Heh, in Oakland and NorCal they drive Hondas as well.

We're almost all Toyota except for a Ford/Nissan van.
