1/2 way out the door with Lexus
Don't sweat it. NEVER feel obligated to buy and product from a single company only. You buy what you like. Period. For whatever reason you choose not to buy a certain product from a specific manufacturer is your choice. I personally pass up on buying certain cars just because of the design of the radio. Really, who cares why you buy or don't buy something. Its your money and you should feel free to buy as you please. I can say this because I am not brand loyal when it comes to cars. I'll buy whatever I happen to like when I'm looking at that time.
Check out this video to see what your MDX can do: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YidkaqlW9ns

AlexusAnja, I'm not sure what dealer you went to but one bad experience with a lousy sales person really shouldn't reflect negatively on Lexus. I hope you stay in the Lexus family and best of luck with your MDX.
I've been up and down unplowed snow covered hills like that in my RX450h without any problems. Didn't even bother with the snow mode. I'll be sure to make my own video next time.
I agree

As Genger stated those are not Lexus employees but rather employees of a company hired by Lexus to manage these events. As for the T-shirt there is limited supply and these employees have to follow guidelines. Imagine that the T-shirt was passed out and then Aikido Toyota didn't get a T-shirt
I understand though that the employee might have been a snob and should be reprimanded for their actions. Also give Lexus corporate time to respond. Maybe she could have asked someone else for the t-shirt who wasn't as much of a "hard ***" about giving them away. Sometimes you have to find that "employee" that doesn't care and will give the house away. I feel your sentiments that as longtime Lexus owners, you feel like a T-shirt is not much to ask for.
I can understand wanting 7 seats over the 5 seat RX. The MDX is IMO the best Acura product. Which isn't saying much. I don't view them at all as a luxury brand and I my wife thought the styling was disgusting. To me the brand is not worth the money and is far surpassed by everyone else. Good luck with your purchase though and hopefully you will tell us time to time how your ownership experience was.

While the t-shirt thing seems a bit much, I totally understand where he is coming from. I own an IS-F and a LX570 both from Longo. So I figured I'd go for the trifecta and buy an LS460L. I sent Longo Lexus's internet department a price quote request. I specifically requested that they do NOT call me and did not include a phone number. Well, sure enough, they looked up my number and bothered me during an important client meeting. Furthermore, the salesperson absolutely refused to give me a price quote via email and blew me off. That was the last straw. When I got my IS F from them, they actually did send me an email quote and when I went in to buy, they refused to honor it! I had to complain to corporate for a resolution. That's when I learned not to trust them without getting everything in writing. After blowing me off over the LS, I went out and got a Porsche instead. I was sick of Lexus "customer service" which I frankly do not find any better than Toyota/Hyundai/Nissan/Honda.

If ever there is an issue quickly point the person to "The Lexus Covenant".
A member who was a Lexus and Acura serviceman posted their thoughts in another thread....
Let me just tell you what I saw as a service consultant for Lexus and Acura both. As stated the Lexus may have a silly rattle or minor issue from time to time as does any car.But during my time at Acura I saw those cars come in plagued with issues and there was no consistency to the problems. One may have an electrical problem where the next identical vehicle may have power steering issues. There was no rhyme or reason. Also when I was at Lexus customer service was #1 and we did alot for people. While at Acura I was amazed at how little they cared whether you left happy, mad or if you came back. Also I noticed Acura was alot more likely to turn down warranty claims and try to make it customer pay.Heres an example. My brother had a brand new TL he bought and serviced at the dealer.During every service he complained about the transmission and the warning lights that would come on.They always said it was a fluke and not to worry about it.During his last service they said yes it is your transmission that needs replaced and your 15 miles past warranty so thatll be 5k.He took it up with the regional rep for Acura. My brother told him he didnt feel this was right and that Lexus wouldnt do this to one of there owners and the rep told him "if you think Lexus is so great then you shold buy one".So he did and now hes a member here on CL.In addition Ive owned my GS4 for ten years and love her and would never sell her.Lexus all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ha ha... thanks guys, for all the honest opinions here. No, it wasn't really just the t-shirt, but also the non-response from corporate too when I wrote to them. Also, know what? Lexus is not doing all that great right now, your rep of 80's and 90's can quickly disappear just as GM's did in the 80's. It's tough times like these that make or break customer relations. In terms of cars, my wife was 100% for another Lexus, either another RX (which really was too small for us) or the GX, but she wasn't too keen on the GX. I've always liked the MDX, but my decision in this was 40% at most. Minivan really is the more logical choice, but that would have only a 25% chance of being even looked at.
This incident just got her to "consider" the MDX and after looking online and seeing what was being offered for 2010, it got her really interested from a design aspect and financial (which is most important) aspect. 1.9% financing, $800 under invoice, we put down only $2K down and the final monthly payments just sealed the deal.
As for getting rid of the LS, I'm angry somewhat, but not crazy...
ha ha. I've wanted an LS since the 1st gen and getting our 430 was a dream come true. My wife still loves it and we're keeping it until the wheels fall off. I know things like this make some readers think some people are crazy on basing buying decisions on crazy things... but that is life. I think there actually are NOT that many brand loyal people that blindly buy a particular brand all the time. They might buy a particular "manufacturing country" all the time (i.e. Ford to GM, then to Chrysler. Honda to Toyota, then to Nissan, etc.) but not a particular make. There are just "strange" elements that come into a car purchase, some of it purely illogical and nuts.
As for the t-shirt, we knew it was being given away because our friends in Chicago that went to the event a week prior had received the t-shirts and they were the ones that told us to go check the event out. So, in some ways my wife WAS EXPECTING to get a shirt, but when she was met with that response, she flipped her wig (no, she doesn't really wear a wig). Then, writing to corporate maybe we just expected a "sorry, but those people are independently hired and not Lexus employees".... but instead we got the cricket song by Lexus.
Hey, it is what it is at this point. We got our MDX at a great price, fits our family needs (a big factor with RX was no 3rd row), and we got more performance that we really needed.
it's all good right now. Now, to see which of my three friends will win out and get my babied RX to enjoy... sad, had that things for a long time.
