Are you saying people should expect 2k below what is listed under the kbb trade in? That's ridiculous lol on kbb's part
That's been my experience, and verified to be pretty accurate by a car salesperson that I'm friends with. Obviously, every deal is different, but I use it successfully as a general rule of thumb.
I have a feeling that if KBB lowered their values by $2000 to adjust for real life transactions, the dealerships would start offering $2000 less than those adjusted values.
trade-ins are where a lot of the dealers make up their profits...I'm not surprised that they low-balled you.
it's good that you were aware of the situation and didn't sign over the vehicle for less value than what it's worth. time and time again, people walk into dealerships thinking they are getting a fair shake on the trades...when it come's to the end, they've been walked over.
don't worry...you'll find that Viper and hopefully sell your vehicle at a descent price
Sorry to hear about that. Im surprised he didnt come after you, or hopefully you will get a phone call today.
I myself have a question about trade ins, dont mean to hijack though. What do dealers do with trade ins that cant resell anymore, like high mileage ones?
They are auctioned off to those "buy here pay here" mom and pop type car lots.
