I think matte only works on certain cars.....

I saw a matte black Phantom and did not like.

matte black only looks good on exotics.

i'll take glossy paint any day. nothing beats the look of freshly waxed paint.

I like flat black but don't like the "murdered out" look much

Sometimes I like it, like this CLK Black in the C&C thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/dig...-v-7-31-a.html

The flat black masks some of the vents (and that's a good thing), so your eyes are drawn towards those massive flares.

I say powder coat the entire car (except for window) for durability.

I saw a black phantom on the road the other day on 24's with everything blacked out except for the spirit of ecstasy. Even al all of the chrome was blacked out. The car looked more like a Chrysler 300C than a rolls. I love the Phantom but mine would never look even similar to this one

i never understood why people here love primer paint jobs. if i paid for a paint job, i would want it super shiny.

Wayy back, this was a sign of an impending paint job by someone who was a bit short on $$ to spray it while at the body shop. Or one of the garage primer jobs on the way to the body shop. Nowadays... Just shows I'm getting old and it is now considered a trendy statement among cars.

Exactly correct. Like kids wearing their dad's baggy jeans because they couldn't afford their own pants back in the day, the flat black look stems from poorness. A huge overall

what's the point? spend money to have a primer look, then remove it later? i guess getting that "SICK CAR" compliment does wonders for a youngster's street cred.

What's the point of HID license plate lights for example? Or most front lips? Or overpriced JDM curtains? Or JDM things that hang from your mirror. Some people like the looks. It's cheaper than painting a car and you can revert it back to stock. To each his own.

I don't have a matte black car but if someone wants to do it, fine. I don't see why it has anything to do with a youngster's street cred except you think it's cool to say street cred.
