Seems a little steep for a 525i w. 270,000kms

Any more info on the car? Is it in particularilly good shape? How's the radiator (radiator is a biggie for Bavarian things)

Link to FS posting?

ps: your sig is amusing

I'd be extremely hesitant to buy any high mileage BMW unless you have the extended warranty available (covers up to 160 000km). The maintenance costs on an out of warranty BMW can be extremely expensive.

I'd also be concerned about buying one of the highest mileage '06 5 series available in Canada even if it's a fairly low price. If it's the second lowest priced car, there is probably a reason for it.

Sorry, mistype; I read 127.

Hmm, something seems off. Nothing wrong with going to take a look at it, but the options combo seems funny. Also, there's no way to not pay GST & PST short of faking the sale price. No interior shots also raises an eyebrow.

Personally... I'd go with a 535I =). Any of those in your selection?

78914 (US) miles doesnt sound extremely high. The non turbo ones were decently reliable i think. i'd take it to a dealership just for an inspection just to be sure. good luck!

IF the car is legit, the biggest concern is the rad at that km.

IF the rad checks out AND the car isn't a scam (that don't pay tax bit worries me about the seller) AND the car is in good condition (you're in ON & I think rust is a bit of an issue for you guys?) ... ... ... I'd offer him $20k

For the inspection, take it to a DIFFERENT BMW dealer than the one it usually goes to, or (better yet) your own garage you trust should you have one.

Reasons I say offer $20k:
1 - I don't know anyone that expects to get asking - probably end up around $21
2 - smaller engine option & no M pkg (M pkg gives you lots of upgrades that are only on M pkg cars)
3 - high kms (none of my cars are over 100,000kms and they're all older than 06)

lastly: as much as we hate tax (you guys are 13%, we're 12% so I know the pain) I think I would be listing the actual sale price instead of a fudged one in case there does turn out to be something funny w. the seller

OH and! make sure the computer doesn't have ANY issues, and I mean ANY - the computer wont affect the drive of the car at all, but it will be very annoying and it's a little up there to get a new one

Keep in mind that if the sale isn't completed within the next 10 days then HST kicks in. (Not sure if you can reclaim any of HST as a consumer....it's great for businesses as they can recoup some of what used to be PST, but brutal for Joe Everyman ). There is no way to avoid it as you will have to provide a bill of sale when you register the car under your name. I'd be very cautious of this private seller trying to skirt something you will not be able to avoid.

The 525 also uses the older weaker engine setup...I think with 185hp or so..the 528 got a substantial bump to 230 or so......

Thanks everyone for their inputs, I went to check out the car today and found repainted parts and it wasn't even smooth, owner said he didnt realize they were there and told me he is 2nd owner. So I decided to pass on this offer.
