Default 1998 BMW 328i- inputs/help please

Hello fellow members,

I am searching a car for the gf when i stumbled upon a 98 BMW with 170,000+ miles.

I know they say that BMW are expensive to maintain and fix, but could someone or BMW owners educate me a little about what those are?

thanks in advance

Your two best sources for information about these cars from owners listed below

bimmerfest.com
bimmerpost.com

My BMW's have been trouble free so far. I never succumbed to the internet doom & gloom rhetoric & stories about these vehicles when I made the choice to go with BMW back in 2006. You can take what I say into consideration or choose to ignore it.. Good luck with your choice

You can say that pretty much about any German cars.

I had a 89 e30 325i w/ 160k. I also driven a 94 318i w/ 140k. From my experience, never get a BMW unless you plan to not drive it

Thats b/c those detached from reality and want to keep a feeling of "superiority" will not mention their problems. For goodness sakes man those forums are completely full of issues.

For further reading, pick up an issue of Bimmer mag where they do old car evaluations. They will TELL you, buy the newest car you can buy with the best maintenance records. They do NOT recommend buying a high milege spotty BMW. This is BIMMER mag. I love this mag and buy it often. They just did a spotlight on the E39 5 last month and what to avoid/what to look for. Very good info.

To the OP BMWs make great cars but that age and that mileage, be prepared to pay to keep it running. That is a decision A LOT of people are happy or unhappy to make to keep their BMWs.
