Remember what Chris Bangle said when a journalist asked him just after the release of the Gen2 Benz CLK about whether he liked the pillarless side windows and whether he might bring them to BMW:

My wife gave me the go-ahead to get a 2door, so these are the 2 I'm narrowing it down to. I know this is a Lexus forum (I have a GS430), but I figured I would get unbiased opinions here rather than asking in audi/mb forums.
Both Audi and MB dealerships do not have either of these in stock, and won't for a few months. Don't worry I won't purchase before I do test drives. I've driven an 09 BMW M3, and although I like the speed and ungodly handling, the car just felt cheap inside, especially compared to my GS430. But I guess I am still considering it. I would consider an IS-F, but 4 people in my neighborhood have one already and I don't think they stand out like the other 2.
Does anyone have experience with these? What would you get?

I haven't driven any of these two. But I have sat in a S5 in an autoshow, and I love it. I would say E-class looks the best in the sedan form, not the coupe. Audi S5's headlights look kind of wierd but overall proportions look impeccable. I would choose S5 among these two. The new Infiniti M37 looks very nice too, not considering it?
I'd go with an S5, that car is just plain up sexy!
And to add, the S5 is basically a "sportier" version of the A5, but not truly a "sports-sports" car, it's essentially what the 335 is to the 3 series.

Well I think this is quite telling. Lexus owners, who are a more conservative lot than BMW or Infiniti owners, are voting 85% to 15% on this poll to say the Audi S5 is a better coupe than the Mercedes E550.
