I'd get the Prius - it's stupid-proof to a extent and it's one of the most proven hybrids on the road.

But most college kids do go pretty hard on their on cars and i mean driving a prius hard is pretty bad for it, and his mileage probably wont be great. But good luck anyways!

As of now the poll results seem to be swayed in favor of option B "Maybe, but I'd have to see the car." I guess most of you guys think it's a car to car thing. Anyway I'll leave the poll up. Very interesting viewpoints here.

Why? Reliability certainly cannot be an excuse, as most hybrids, according to Consumer Reports, especially the Toyota/Honda-designed ones, have had good reliability records.

These vehicles have proven their reliability. I would check the fuel eco. average just to make sure it is running right. But then I would do that for any car.

I wouldn't be afraid of a miley Prius, I've certainly retailed a bunch of them and they haven't come back to haunt us, even a few 1st Gens with over 120k on them.

The reason that they get worse MPG in cold weather is that the engines tend to spend more time running due to the heater, or so my service department tells me

We have a bunch of customers who are past 200k and they're holding up fine, one is used as a taxi.

In my experience, if a Toyota hybrid has mileage that is significantly suffering then the 12 volt battery is to blame. The ICE will try and charge a battery they may need replacing. Happened to us and my bro.
