BMW considering new 'X4'

True, but it's probably the world's largest single new-car market, although China is gaining rapidly. And even if the 80,000 world-wide sales figure is correct, that's not a lot of vehicles, world-wide in the 2 years since it was introduced. The Ford F-150, for example, not long ago, was selling almost that many trucks in one month. Camrys and Accords were selling that many in 2 months.
No matter how you look at it, the X6 has not been what most auto analysts would call a marketing success. The X4 might (?) do a little better, since it doesn't cost as much as an X6, and people won't have to shell out quite so much for questionable styling. But I wouldn't bet the monthly rent on it.

There's nothing wrong with sport wagons. There IS something wrong with travesties such as the 5GT, X6, and (potentially) X4. But don't sully the good name of true sport wagons such as the 3- and 5-series wagons, A4 and A6 Avant, etc. etc.

BMW stated they wanted 20k X6 to be sold and I guess they hit that worldwide as sales here have been around 400-700 units a month.
Though neither of them seem to sell (at least in my area) in large numbers, the biggest problem, as I see it, with LX sales is its own Toyota Land Cruiser brother. The Land Cruiser offers the same quality, virtually the same interior plushness, and the same veraatility and of-road cabability at a lower price. I reviewed a Land Cruiser (by CL request) not long ago, and was highly impressed with it. There is little reason, IMO, to spend the extra cash on the LX (and both of these vehicles cost a lot of $$$$$$), except for the trick-adjustable suspension height.
If you aren't B.S.-ing us about being truly interested in an X6, then get out your checkbook and go shopping. In the U.S. market, this vehicle, for the most part, just sits on BMW lots, and dealers can't get rid of them (and they probbly don't keep many in stock). You can bet the monthly rent they'll be willing to deal.
But, with the X6, also consider depreciation and potential resale value. You might get a great deal now, but later on is when the vehicle's unpopularity could (?) come back to bite. If you decide, in a few years, that you want something else, you're probably not going to be able to re-sell it at the drop of a hat, nor get much of a trade-in allowance for it.

Well there isn't any market for the Infiniti EX which has been a giant failure and unless the BMW badge means that much not sure why this would sell over it.
