Audi RS5: overpriced epic fail
its about as fast as an M3/ISF but costs significantly more.Base Price:
$104,500
Audi claims acceleration to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.6 seconds — a scant 0.1 second slower than the time BMW quotes for the M3 with its own dual-clutch transmission.

Those are Audi factory claims which are purposefully underrated. Everyone in the industry does this in order to safeguard themselves against possible lawsuits from angry consumers who couldn't achieve the factory ratings.
Once a proper performance magazine like EVO or (this hurts to say it) Car and Driver tests this car, rest assured they'll achieve significantly better 0-60 times.

I have to agree, way overpriced.
If you're talking about being overpriced when looking at numbers then you might want to look at the LFA. Thats a whole other can of worms though. The RS5 pricing is fine, if it was the RS4 then I would be clamoring over the price.

well this is not a Bently. This is just an Audi. I think this is way over priced just like any other audis. They are not even Tier 1 luxury brand.
There's a red Audi something 5 that I have seen several times in NYC, it has "stacked" exhaust similar to the IS-F, only its stacked horizontally, not vertically like the IS-F. Which model is that?
^ Bingo. What is the European price for the M3? I think I read that they're relatively close to eachother.
That said, I do expect the RS5 to be a bit more expensive than the ISF, C63, M3, etc.

How can this be an epic fail? 0-60 drag times are over rated and one small part of the equation. This is how the article linked in the OP sums it up... epic fail, indeed.
More Than Just Fast
The 2011 Audi RS5 feels like a class act the moment you pull the door handle and climb inside. Audi has a well-deserved reputation for turning out some of the best production car interiors, and this car upholds that honor with one of the most stylish and high-quality cabins you'll find in any car at any price.
If the primary objective of the 2011 Audi RS5 has been to put one over on the BMW M3, then it's hard to see how it has failed. Stylistically, it scores with its aggressive demeanor. See it in the street and you're in no doubt that this is one badass car. It's also hard to argue about the overall effectiveness of its driveline, especially the action of its dual-clutch gearbox. In terms of overall quality, it also scores highly.
In the end, it comes down to the driving experience. In ultimate terms, there is very little separating the two cars. You'd buy the Audi for the secure feel it delivers, whether in the dry or the wet. On the other hand, you'd have the BMW purely on entertainment value, as it has a kind of fizz that makes a car so desirable.
Clearly it's time for a reappraisal.

I'd have a hard time forking over $100K for something that's based off an A4. I don't doubt that this is a great car in every conceivable way, but there are a plenty of better ways to spend that much money, IMO.
That said, I think the USD price will be a little lower.
