Dude I was reading your thread and then when I started reading after "wait a second" I cracked up laughing.

I won't warn but please don't try to go around the language editor.

Glass repair/replacement for the windshield, from rocks and road debris, is considered a Comprehensive claim, and, by law, Comprehensive claims cannot affect your rates, unless they are very extreme in frequency and expense. I seriously doubt that a $75 glass repair alone was the reason your rates went up....if it did, that would be illegal, and you would have a legal case.

Give GEICO a call (1-800-841-3000) and see if they will take you on. They have a reputation for good, 24/7 service AND low rates, if you qualify. I've been with them for almost 30 years, and been very satisfied.

Wow! $621 is all you're paying? Try this. I'm 46, no accidents, no tickets, drive a boring Honda Accord and my insurance rates are $1,050 every 6 months. that includes a USAA multi-car discount. Of course, living in 33076 doesn't help, either.

I switched from Geico to Liberty Mutual on both auto and home. Premiums shot down about 20% AND, more importantly, I know have an agent I can speak with. I would have paid more for that. Of course, I like, and appreciate the value that full service brings with it.

my friggin allstate 6-month car insurance premium (in nj) went from $491 to $621 !!

this is total bs... and NOTHING changed from period to period... no accidents... no tickets... no claims... in fact i dropped the rental car option on my insurance to lower my premium even further...

i have an 05 ls430 and i'm a 41-yr-old married male with a perfect driving record... and... i've only had allstate for 20 years with 1 claim 10 years ago that cost them about $2k... in those 20 years they've probably collected about $40k in premiums...

i'm really tempted to just drop them...

has anyone else experienced this kind of shafting in nj?
WOW ridiculous. Talk to a supervisor must be a mistake.

The ratings don't lie. Allstate's price rating is 2/5.

Looks like it's time to switch.

Auto insurance prices vary wildly. I was with 21st Century when I was single and they charged me about $1200 annually. Got married and another car and all the sudden, they want $4000. You'd think it was my wife and that extra car that made my rate jump, but nope. AAA gave me $1700 for the same conditions and policy.

Shop around.

Time to call Geico, they can save you up to 15% or more on car insurance, so I've heard anyway. haha

I'm not on Geico BTW, still somewhat under my parents to take advantage of all their discounts.

I wonder what percent of Geico premium cost is related to the huge advertising budget. Progressive is spending a lot too on tv ads.

Several auto-insurance firms seem to be on a big TV ad blitz. GEICO, of course, has the Gecko lizard and the Cave Man. Progressive has that cute (but a little goofy) brunette in the white suit, and Allstate has that African-American fellow with the deep, classy, booming voice.
ALL of them claim to save money if you switch......so go figure.

Still, in my experience, GEICO not only advertises the lowest rates among the big insurance companies, but (usually) delivers them as well. USAA also has excellent low rates, but, in general, only serves the mlitary.

And New Jersey Manufacturers has 5/5 across the board. I was with State Farm years back. When I switched to NJM, my premiums dropped substantially and every year after. Plus they pay out dividends every year. As far as claims, no personal experience here, but I understand they're really good.

Oh, NJM does not advertise so no cutesy commercials or overpaid actors.
