I park out in the most remote section of the parking lot I can find, no matter the walk. I always park next to an island/curb with the curb on the right. If I'm forced to park next to other cars, I never, EVER park next to a 2 door car, SUV, Volvo, beater, or minivan.
My LS is 10 yrs old and has one door ding on 3 of the 4 doors. I just park as close as possible as long there is adequate room.
When I had my previous car, which was my first new car, I used to park a little further. But no matter where I parked, I always found some POS next to me when I came back. I swear my car was a crap-magnet.
BTW - what in the frick did that Audi A4 owner do w/ their license plate? That looks horrible!! I know it interrupts the look of the front grill if mounted in the conventional spot, but off to the side like that looks like a hack-job!
I find and spot at the end of a row and go as far to one side as possible so that in the event someone does park beside me, there is the least possible likelihood of door dents.

it's a rho-plate. mounts onto the tow hooks.
and lol at 1sicklex's story.
i park far away and usually in a corner. i don't like crawling 15 mins for a spot, when i could walk that in 1 mins. save gas, save time and get some exercise.
I like to park the Lexus near other fancy foreign cars.
I do the same thing because I feel that the owners of other high end foreign cars will respect the love I have for my car because they feel the same way about their cars
