Lexus IS 350 to Debut in Australia

Lexus Australia has announced that the IS 350 sport sedan will be joining its lineup in the fourth quarter of 2010. With its debut Down Under, the IS 350 gains a fourth national market after Canada, Japan, and the U.S., and also addresses the power differential between Lexus Australia’s other IS offerings, the IS 250 and IS-F.

Lexus Australia head Tony Cramb says that the IS 350’s Australian debut is the result of an intense negotiation process with Lexus headquarters in Japan. At present only the IS 350 sedan variant is confirmed; Lexus Australia also sells the convertible IS 250 C, but not the more powerful IS 350 C.

I'm sure the Aussie's will be happy about this.

The IS is a great car but its so damn old . Its in serious need of a redesign and refresh. ( a couple inches of rear leg wouldn't kill them either ). Actually when I initially read the title of this thread I thought that a new IS was being released and shown in Australia. I can't imagine the Lexus IS not selling well in to many countries. Its small, relatively economical, has great handling, well made, has a great reputation globally and is offered with multiple power plants.

I dunno man but isn't it that the IS should be one of the most sold of Lexus overseas..........cause well it's the cheapest.

In the Philippines for instance, we already eight IS300 cars on the road (though there are 24 units of LS460 L..........but only 4 units of GS 460).

I guess it depends really..........

Anyways, the Aussies were lucky on this one even if they had to use ALL their bargaining power.

Because in reality, Lexus really intended and stated that the only IS that would ever be sold in Asia-Pacific is the IS250 (or IS300 in countries with poor fuel quality).

So yeah, I guess the Aussies used a lot of persuasion to get their point

Lexus needs a place to move some sales from where they may not being doing as well as before.
