To potential BMW owners: a cautionary tale.
Hi All,
Just wanted to make a thread for those who might be considering switching from another brand (in this case, Lexus) to BMW. I would have appreciated reading something like this before I made my recent purchase.
I just got a BMW 335i coupe. I came from another BMW 3, and really enjoyed that car. Without *****ing for hours, this new car is a true disaster. The well-publicized High Pressure Fuel Pump problems have come up for me in the first few hundred miles, and there are TONS of other reasons that the overall impression of this car is poor. I don't like it, and wouldn't advise anyone I like to get one.
Just putting this out there to help the greater community; if a single person reads this and thinks twice, I'll feel better. I certainly wish I had.
Thanks for the time!

Welcome to the Forum!
I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune. Was the car still under warranty? Is there an easy fix?
I can understand your frustration with purchasing a troubled car. I myself just got rid of one. However, if you can fix it, do your best to enjoy it...

e92fail can you list other issues you have had with the car besides the fuel pump?
correct me if im wrong but i heard bmw will not recall the car to fix the problem, rather they are extending the warranty on the fuel pump. once the extended warranty is out for the fuel pump i cant imagine the repair cost.

That's disappointing to hear that you experienced the HPFP issue so shortly into ownership. My father picked up an E92 335i in May of 2007 and has had no problems whatsoever, looking to get another soon. A friend of mine owned an E90 335i and it was a nightmare (HPFP, transmission issues, etc, etc.). It's a shame that these cars are so hit-and-miss with reliability because they're a ton of fun to drive.

Soon to be on the '09 and 10's.
My last car was an e92 335, so glad I got rid of it...but the car looks really niceeee though. Mine was an 08' and I had fuel pump issues about 600 miles into the car then one of my turbos over heated as well...I drove loaners more than my own car. Warranty takes care of it but it sucks to always have to be at the dealer.
