$74 million deal saves Saab
I for one am happy to see Saab stay alive. Saab have always made some pretty nice cars until GM took it over. Let see if Spyker can turn things around for Saab.

I am not going to say I am happy they are going to stay around but I am wondering what effect it will have on design and quality.

well its Spykers problem now, not the American taxpayer. If they wanted taxpayer money to pay for it, then yes let it die. If Spyker thinks he can save it, then let him suceed/fail
If Spyker puts the same effort into Saab as they do with Spykers the saab will be full of win.

So now we have a company, Spyker, which has yet to make a profit, buy another company which has been been losing money. That sounds like a receipe for even more failure. Good luck to the bank that's lending them more money.

Sometimes a brand just reaches the end of its life and deserves to die.. I mean what is the point of resurrecting this old and tired marque again.. there is nothing unique about Saab, nor is there anything to offer confidence that Spyker knows what to do with it... Spyker can spend their money how they like, but if I was one of their investors I would think they have taken leave of their senses..

lol, always interesting when those types get together.
How often can you buy a whole car company for $74M? It's another fiasco from GM's past. Spyker's got nothing to lose, but the brand won't survive anywhere close to it's current form. Who wants a Saab?
I must admit though, Spyder does make some funky looking cars, it has more of a European flare than American. Maybe the new Saab will sell well in Europe or maybe Spyker can tone down the new Saab's design for the US market.

I'll be at the D.C. Auto Show tomorrow...we'll see if Saab has any reps (or a display) there.
