Look at what happened with time, the M3 is no longer 40k but 70k the 300zx has been replaced by the 350z and now the 370z and it seems that it has stayed in the same price range. Lexus dropped the I6 in the SC and has take the sports out of sports coupe.
I remember reading that article and thinking how sad it was the TT Supra in 1993 was priced the same as the NA was in 1995. Dollar vs. yen in those days was really variable. TT base went from $39.6k in '93 to over $50k by 1995. I know - I bought one in September of '94 and looked to replace it in October of '95 when the ex drove it into a wall. The same car the ex drove into the wall went from $42k to $54k...
I drove the NA. After owning the TT, it wasn't very satisfying at all. Rather like playing with a kitten after grappling with the tiger. Glad I was able to replace the TT in '97...
Wow thanks for posting that comparison test 1Sick, gee I was only 8 at the time all I knew was the Lexus ES and SC, and Acura Integra. It's amazing to see how some family sedans or even the RAV4 can run similar 0-60 mph times these days.
