A simple bulb change to L.E.D. will take care of the look. I actually like the halogen angel eye look as it makes the vehicle more sinister looking.

As far as the X3 is concerned, it is a fantastic vehicle & has to be experienced to believe. Well, BMW has reached the final stages with the new X3 & it will join the fleet shortly to form Voltron

Per BMW insider Scott26 @ Bimmerpost..

The sister publication of Autobild "Allrad" has a new Huckfeldt interpretation of the forthcoming BMW X3 Sport Activity Vehicle.

As of all the publications who have created illustrations of the X3 , This interpretation stands out as the closest to the production car which this time around will be built at BMW's Spartanburg plant in South Carolina.

Taking as many of the characteristics from the E83 and refining them such as the rising glasshouse towards the rear of the car coincides with a sloping coupe like roof at the rear quarter this brings the X3's characteristic rear quarter light a better resolved solution allowing it to be smaller and more shapely. The visual appeareance of the car adds more muscle to the E83 with equally strong haunches and flared wheel arches similar to the E53 X5 and typical of a BMW SAV which adds more robustness and masculinity to the design.
The front end of the car becomes more aggressive with the main lighting units angled with a prominent larger Twin kidney grille as expected of a BMW today.

Unlike the X1 The new X3 will use the latest Single Turbo Six cylinder engine as introduced with the BMW 5er Gran Turismo and the soon to be launched BMW 5er.

The rear receives more BMW like L-Shaped taillamps than todays car . The overall look allows the X3 to become a more dynamic orientated SAV than before. Using a completely new platform and technology that will integrate into the next 3er. BMW will position the X3 as the Sporting enthusaists choice in the growing segment of mid-line compact SAV's.

The X3 will be the exception to the rule. It is no longer going to be the pariah of the segment it created.

Thats new X3's front end looks like a cross between Lexus and Audi, I must say, it looks pretty good. Lets just hope BMW will fix the fuel pump problem in the new engine.

What can be expect to get in the US? Both the X1 and a redesigned X3 or just the redesigned X3?

But I do agree Lexus needs a new SC, and a few Coupes, and maybe a few more convertibles.

But for comparisons sake, Lexus has only 1 CUV in their lineup and most of the competition has 3 (and BMW will soon have 6 if you include their tall GT models). BMW also is making M versions of all their CUVs so I don't see a problem if Lexus did the same. It would also help amortize the costs of the expensive high powered F engines if they were shared with not only sedans, but CUVs, and Coupes etc.
bmw is trying to make a run at lexus in terms of the CUV's, but essentially to add F branded CUV's, Lexus would have to consider the cost, not just in terms of money but in terms of the environment. it has always taken pride in being fuel efficient and not a gas guzzler. the X line for BMW, especially with the new X5 M and X6M are both gas guzzlers due to the twin turbo output. For Lexus to create an F CUV for its vehicles, they'd have to consider the cost of production and the cost to those who want a Lexus for luxury and economically and ecologically friendly. but with the launch of the LFA following the IS F, it is clear that more F brands are to come (hopefully). it'd be nice to counteract BMW's M line in the CUV's as well as the AMGs in mercedes benz's SUV's, so this is definitely something to look forward to.
