I guess people in Europe does have different taste in car as us America, that X1 is ugly as sin.

Seeing something in real life makes the difference if you ask me. I have to admit I didn't like the X1 when it first came out. But the design has grown has on me and the more I saw it the more I began to appreciate its design. If you ask me, it's the best-looking BMW SUV at the moment. I never found the appeal in the design of the X3 (a styling disaster if you ask me) and the X5 and X6 are to "brutish" for my tastes.
The X1 on the other hand looks very nice. Perhaps when you encounter it stateside you will change your mind.

Can't speak for Europe, but it is not likely that mini-luxury SUVs will sell well in the U.S. Like I mentioned earlier, most people here who want smaller SUVs tend to want lower-priced ones like the RAV-4, CR-V, etc.....
I firmly believe that is why Lexus has not done a smaller, RAV-4-based SUV here....the RX is the smallest they've done.
