Default 09 Porsche Boxster

a few of the CL members have been making the jump to that shiny new 09 porsche, I am finally going to go and look this afternoon. Any one want to comment on the performance between the base and the S model. is it worth the difference in price? The dealership has a nice white with black interior. So I am excited, I will keep you all posted.

performance aside, make sure you are comfortable with the extremely tight seating.
it wasn't acceptable to me, an average sized car enthusiast.

a few years back i drove a base model and it didn't seem very peppy. i believe the S version is noticeably quicker. i no longer need a rocket to drive, but the porsche engines have an unusual torque/throttle response so yes, i'd try both if i were you.

got tempted by porsche's 1.9% financing huh?

ya, that 1.9% is nice. I love the LEDs in the headlights of the boxster.

Yeah they are advertising aggressively on T.V and in print. Got a flyer the other day.

The Boxster is considered one of the all time sports car greats, especially the "S" model. I've heard nothing but good things about them.

Porsche has been PUMMELED by the economy, sales are down over 50% so you are IN THE DRIVERS SEAT!

Good luck. Check out 6speedonline too, great Porsche forum.

okay so I went to look at the porsche, and it was really nice, but on the way there I stopped at the Mercedes dealer when a SL65 AMG caught my eye. and wow. I looked at a 2005 with 25000 miles for $65k. I test drove it, and it was incredible, the biturbo v12 is amazing, and the throttle is super responsive. It was amazing. I think I may have fallen in love. We will see how negotiation go. I want to get them down to 60, and I want them to give me 20 for my SC.

oh man, an SL65 is on another planet than a boxster. boxsters should be very reliable but routine maintenance is still VERY expensive. the SL65 on the other hand, better have a trust fund for maintenance costs, even with a great warranty. but the SL65 is an AMAZING car. did you feel the active suspension too? it's incredible.

5 year old car + V12 + twin turbo = run away.

For 65K, you can get into a brand new M3 or IS-F or CTS-V.

My preference based on experience, go with Boxster S.

Is 1.9% financing even possible with above average credit?

The Boxster S with PDK is a low 4 second car (0-60). Even the base Boxster has more power than the first gen S version, so it's a much faster car now.

If you're looking at a used SL65, I'd consider an SL55 with an extended warranty, and save the balance for maintenance.

get a Cayman S over a Boxster, they look so much better The new direct injection engines in the Porsche are nice.

I would think there would be crazy costs on maintenance, but it is still a fun car to drive.

Used German car = not reliable. Careful or have a full warranty.
