Exclamation 1SICKBLOG 4: VIPeewee?

I remember one night I was invited by friends to a private party with some music industry people. When I asked about parking, they said they had a section for me for special people. I was cool and parked my GS in this section where there were the usual BMWs, Benzs, Lexus and the like some new and many older than my car. The ones with rims had awful ones and I don't think any thieves were interested. .... It clearly was a section for certain people and I guess I was lucky to be in this "VIP" section but didn't think much of it I was just happy to have a shorter walk.

Of course when I get there and the drinks are pouring I can overhear some guys acting like this parking section was where they found Noah's Ark. I mean it must have been sacred. "Oh yeah I'm VIP" yadda yadda but hell the lot was filled with nice cars, it wasn't rare and it was no big deal. Of course some of the girls are eating this alive b/c well you must be important if you parked in this VIP parking section. I didn't want to tell everyone "hey I parked there too" b/c you know it was "VIP", a special club for special people. When there was a group of these "VIP" guys around, it was pukealicisous to smell the awful cologne, the cheap cigars and dorks ordering Apple Martini's like the girls were.

As I mingled and met people it was easy to tell who really was VIP. They didn't mention it, they didn't advertise it. You KNEW they were VIP or someone introduced them as such. Their conversations were different, like normal people and never was their car or where they parked brought up. I can say I was fortunate to meet some industry heavyweights and you admire how humble many are.

When its time for my friends and I to leave we are invited to a private party by someone truly VIP and are told to follow Nas and Kelis to the house. I didn't ask where they were parked but I figured they were parked in the same lot as me.

As we exited to go outside and followed them well, this was VIP.

Parked INSIDE the "club" gate in the outside patio next to the outdoor pool was a Rolls Royce Phantom and a Ferrari 360 drop.

That ladies and gents is VIP. The two cars are parked INSIDE the party area.

You can't help but grin at how "Pimp" that was. I hurry to my car to follow the Phantom to the afterparty which will now segway into what the hell I'm talking about....

V.I.P.....

I have no interest in making my car V.I.P Thats not to say I dislike it, I think its fine when done right and the person doing it isn't a rude goat tard who shops at Target but acts like its Neiman Marcus. I LOVE how some of the vehicles look and I give a big to the courage and the drive to complete the look properly. Its no easy task!! If I did do it, it would actually be V.I.P, not VIP style (not sure what the **** that is and I'll get into that soon) So no I wouldn't buy a 20 year old Infiniti to start. I wouldn't buy a 5 year old Lexus. No I would be forced to buy the newest and pimpest Lexus out. So I would be posting in the LS 460 forums or so, probably the 600h L forums trying to figure out how to work the rear massaging seat.

I figure at that point I wouldn't really need to mod it b/c well, I'm in a new loaded $120,000 car and I figure if I bought it (hopefully cash) then I am VIP. People know me and I have many leather bound books.

Now thats at the extreme level, so if I did do VIP I have to go with a V-8 and RWD large luxury car. So that knocks out most things. I'd probably do a LS 430 and call/text/PM/IM/visit/mail/email Clublexus member Gato daily for guidance. Check his thread here. This is Viagra ladies and gentlemen.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/vip...ato-style.html

At that point I figure since I did it right, I can help other peoples go into this still somewhat new trend in America. If I didn't go all out, I think a nice dumped GS/LS with some "VIP" whatever wheels is good for me. I have to completely admit a dumped LS looks superb to me. We had a Lexus meet Friday and it was amazingly cool to see some LSs come and drop when they parked to insanely low levels. The owners are great people to talk to as well.

However this wasn't done in America like it was in Japan, from the top down. It started pretty much from the bottom up and it started with the Target crowd, not the Nieman Marcus crowd. Then people decided they would influence true VIP into what they thought was VIP. Then they got their buddies to get into it and form VIP hordes and if your not down with them they will flame your car (even if its the same damn thing) into VIP hades (Wal-Mart).

So we have quickly seen what was supposed to only be V-8/RWD cars turn into a VIP Style Free for All Hey We are Cooler Than You and Even if My Car makes Less Sense than a Riced Out Civic. To their credit adding the word "Style" to VIP has now made it acceptable for you to turn that 30 year old FWD 80hp Datsun 510 into "VIPStyle". Last I checked VIP is something rare and exclusive as well and not bad no one wanted it exclusive. Good exclusive.

Whats worse is the attitude witnessed. Making fun of other people with chrome 22s or sticking their nose up at a non dropped car is the norm but they get to clap and applaud their buddies putting JP products on cars NOT EVEN ON JP's WEBSITE, half painted 20 year old LSs with "wicked" wheel fitment and VIPStyle FWD cars.

Holy irony Batman!!!

On the other hand I've talked to and met many people into the VIP look or VIP Style look that act like normal human beings. They love the dumped/dropped look and the big wheel/dish look. I think it looks outstanding. They don't post trying to prove a point and knock everyone else for not doing what they did. They did what they wanted to do VIP/VIPstyle or not. They don't gang up and critique every single VIP style car at the meet or on the internet. I haven't witnessed any huddles where all the dumped guys go around laughing at others like we see on the internet. There are some very clean cars out there that I guess fall under the category "VIPStyle" without going overboard.

At this point as far as I am concerned VIPStyle has killed VIP. Whats the point? So instead of calling Civics with Altezza's ricers, I am going to call them;
"Tunerstyle".
Instead of calling McDonalds burgers monkey crap compared to FuddRuckers, I'll call it
"BurgerStyle".
I'm no longer going to crap on Bose speakers, I'll now call it
"speakerstyle".
No longer will I crap on Acura, it will be called;
"Luxurystyle"
As for Altimas/Maximas (6th gen) no longer do they get my wrath;
"Lexusstyle"
Instead of calling it masturbating, I'm going to call it
"sexstyle".

See what I did there.

If its monkey crap its monkey crap no matter what cute name is made up to mask that.

You want to cut the bull**** out, buy that nice new LS 600h L or that Bentley. Let the VIP talk for you.

Thanks for reading......

Good. Neither made much sense.

Its beyond me why anyone would buy an expensive car as such and ruin it with VIP crap. I understand someone with a 30 year old Infiniti with 24" chromes and slightly lesser IQ trying to look like Puff Didlo but to ruin a nice car with such nonsense is just sad.

I am proud to say that I am not, nor have never been, VIP. Nor do I understand the cultural phenomenon behind it.

But I can easily say that I have a good eye to see what is truly VIP versus VIP-wannabe.

VIP has a sense of class and refinement. And for what I see, you have to buy class to be VIP; you just can't create class.

You shape and refine "a diamond in the rough". You don't get to cover wet diarrhea with rhinestones...

For those who think (and act as if) they are VIP because they have aftermarket wheels and/or a carbon fiber hood and/or Lambo doors and/or [fill in the tasteless mod], I pity the foo'...

I'm with you Mike.

Vancouver is horrible and I mean disasterously horrible for people pretending like they're a big deal. As a girl who's out and parties (when not cramming her brain full of economics, aiya) I hear so very often how 'great' the guy I'm talking to is; now I have to tell you, the second you tell me how VIP you are is one second before you're watching me walk away.

I deal with & know a fair number of actual IPs (not sure how V they are, what defines how V they are anyhow?) and they're by far the most quiet about what they have or do or what ever.

I voted somewhat agree.

I like the general idea of VIP, to drive a clean car vs one that is riced out or tuned to much. Unlike the experts say, this can be applied to many cars, and yes that includes every Lexus model ever made. To me a great car has to never look out of place, from the race track to outside a fancy resturant. take a nice car, with a small drop and a nice set of wheels, maybe subtle body mods and peformance mods, there you go a nice and clean car. I am not into the extreme VIP look, with crazy offsets and negative camber, but apperciate all the hard work they put into thier cars.

Also you have people who brag in all circles, from kids thinking thier civics are faster then anything, to mustang drivers that do burnouts at every intersection etc... again it is the quiet ones that have the real cars. Alot of forums have made it worse, saying your not JDM enough, or VIP enough etc. Also they push you into trends that don't last, like the lambo door craze, at one time a car had to have this to be considred cool, now they are a laughing stock, don't fall for trends, build the car you want to build. Now everyone is on this VIP bangwagon and the same thing is happening, everything now has to be VIP or else. I just really hate other people hating on everybody's cars, we are in this thing together, there are many forces out there, like the police, extreme green people, the goverment etc.. that are attacking are hobby.

Lastly what I really like about the club lexus forum is that everyone is really supportive of each other, yes we have different tastes, but for the most part we apperciate each others hard work in improving our lexus( and non lexus) cars and trucks and that is really refreshing, because there are alot of forums out there that only want to flame and criticize anything they don't see fit.

+1

I don't get it either ....but I have a healthy appreciation for a car as beautiful as Gato's.

boom.. pretty much said it right there

im down with modding a car and turning your car VIP (i think it looks great and some people work VERY hard to mod it) but turning a 30 year old datsun is just not right..

also i couldnt vote more than once so,

Mike your on point, I like VIP but the attitudes turn me away from it, I would ride a goat rather than do a VIP car

HAHAHA I loved reading this. I got wierd looks in the office when i start laughing really loudly at "sexstlye"

I guess your right because i never associated having VIP status with VIP cars. I thought it was just a name, caused ud see all sorts of rides done either VIP or VIP style. I dont consider the two related (VIP status, VIP rides) because like u said, a plain stock maybach 63s got wayyy more VIP status than a LS loaded to the **** with JP goodies. Plus VIP (cars) are pronounced Bippou

The worlds wealthiests dont supe up their rides to begin with; the super rich have saved their money growin up and make sound investments wtih good returns, not blowing it away on rims body kits etc.(but times are changing.) The super rich dont really want to attract attention to themslves. (im not talkin about rappers here either, im talkin about the multi million-billion dollar club)

As for the style itself? When done right I love VIP cars. VIP looks great only on dumped mid-full size luxury japanese sedans. Hence why my car hasnt touch anything VIP

Exactly, just be yourself, if I ever make my car look VIP, I wouldn't call it VIP or VIP style, I like my car this way, and that's my style.

Looks like I'll be getting out the clippers and putting a fresh trim on my goat before we head out...anybody have a curry-comb I can borrow to liven up the ol' beast before we roll?
