My 92 ES manual with 245k is pearl white and doesn't get much TLC buy it still is a nice white ... Even the bumpers.
The 2GS had a yellow bumper issue and a TSB was issued for it. The plastic turned yellow not the car.

With older white paint, usually it fades and peels rather than turn yellow. This was an especially bad problem back in the early 90s, as the EPA forced automakers to change their painting processes to lessen the paint-vapor problems. A number of manufacturers (Ford, Mazda, and Chrysler were especially noted), had paint durability problems for a couple of years until the new process was perfected.

Not necesarily. In my part of the country, fading seems to be a bigger problem with white cars than yellowing. Of course, you also have to remember that white paint, by its very nature (and especially the Pearl Oyster-White) does not have a lot of gloss to start with. The beauty of the Pearl White is in its texture, not gloss. Black is usually the shiniest color, but of course, one of the hardest to keep clean.

yeah it's not about the shine.

i'm starting to really like the white color cars

but i don't want a off-white stained yellow color after 10 years. I'm hoping waxing alone is enough to maintain the color and prevent oxidation

I've never heard of white paint on metal "yellowing" on any car.

'01 DWP = looks good as new.

As someone further up said, it's the plastic bits that go yellow if the car in question has any of those.
