I would say that adding length to an existing car is pretty significant (more than a simple refresh) but I don't think this will spike sales. The competition in the segment is just too powerful right now and Infiniti needs to answer with a brand new product here. It's coming but not soon enough.

So you bash the Camry refresh and then call this a big set up? And you expect sales which are around a dismal 400 units a month to go back to 2011 levels which I think were 1200-1500 units a month? Sales are going to quadruple with LEDs, some chrome and a LWB no one will know about.

Sales will stay the same unless they are planning some incredible marketing blitz. Though they did that with the M35h last year during the NCAA tournament and it didn't help one iota.

I didn't say I expect sales to go back up to pre-2011 levels, I said the refresh should help bring sales back up, which they should. This is not just a refresh however, they're also offering a LWB option in the mid-level luxury sedan class - something no one else is currently doing. Offering a full size luxury sedan option in this class certainly will attract buyers looking for something bigger.

Pre-2011 M sales were around 2000/month (give or take) during the 2005-2008 years, as was the case of the previous generation GS.

I was not that big fan of a cabin when it debuted because to me it looked like they were still stuck in early 2000s, which of course they were, but now I appreciate it a lot more. It has that SC430 vibe to it.

.... OMG am I just getting older and tad bit nostalgic like everything was better back in the day?

Thank you for proving my point with the official sales numbers.
So as I said, the previous generation M & GS had similar sales numbers and the M sometimes outsold the GS.

Well, because that was when the first generation M was out (at least as a sedan I mean), and it came standard with a V8 and no V6 option. So it's not really fair to compare the 2002-2004 M numbers with anything else in the same class at that time. The 2006 M which came out in February of '05 (If I remember correctly) changed everything and sales quadrupled.

If we go way back in time the M had poor sales and short life cycles (F31 and Y34). You're correct the Y50 was the most successful M. As well all know the current Y51 isn't cutting it either. Only time will time if this refresh/LB model will have any effects in helping sales.
