Quote: Sales are down, profits are down. Dealers have to stay afloat and make a profit to survive. If staying profitable means cutting services we're used to...then be it. The sad part about all this....people will still b1tch and complain even if the dealership is at least offering a car to drive in. Be thankful any dealership is even offering wheels for you to roll in while your car is in for service regarless of what it is. If you were at BMW or another manufacturer, you will have to pay for a loan car.

I'm with flipside on this one. I can think of lots worse things to drive than a Corolla, which, IMO, is actually a pretty nice small car. And some dealers don't have free loaners at all.....you rent one, either from the dealership or elsewhere.

i made an appt way ahead of time for the recall. i never do walk-ins

based on what you said then, one of those loaners was supposed to be mine. had to pull teeth just to get them to finally loan me a lexus

The Audi dealer in Chandler that I bought my G from is owned by penske, so is this mixed dealer next to scottsdale Ferrari owned by penske..... So are all those high end Porsche, BMW, land rover dealers in North Scottsdale owned by penske.

Penske is taking over everything... However, the penske owned Audi dealer had an enterprise in their building and they loaned me an 09 Audi 2.0T for a week.

Btw, loaners are not free, the cost is built into the inflated service cost.

Often the local Porsche dealer offers discounted service, but then they charge for the loaner/rental car. I once had a Chevy Silverado pickup for a couple of days, came in handy for a couple of chores.

So if I get a corolla as a loaner, I should pay the deflated service cost of a corolla?
We pay a premium for a Lexus because of their great customer service. Giving customers a compact loaner car is not great customer service. Lexus headquarter should really try to regulate what dealers gives out for loaners. Heck, even my Toyota dealer dont give out corollas for loaners.

I agree, Lexus service prices are plenty steep (with plenty of markup) and should include a Lexus loaner, that's what my Lexus dealer provides unless they run out, then it's a rental. And the 2 Mercedes dealers that I use provide only Mercedes loaners.

Quote: This could never ever happen at Newport Lexus..
Of course not, because they charge a lot more for the same services at other Lexus dealers.

No free lunches, as they say., but maybe some designer coffee to go with that inflated service price too.

Without the designer coffee and the French pastries, you might as well go to a Toyota dealer for service

Pastries??? A couple of weeks ago I took my car to the dealer at 8 AM during the week and all that was there were dispensers of regular and decaf coffee.

I did have my choice of Lexus loaners though.

When I brought in my 2nd gen GS into Lexus of Chandler in AZ, I got a 09 Corolla. I was told they stopped giving out Lexus loaners earlier this year because of how people treated them. One of the customers totaled the Lexus loaner in the past.

This might have been said already, but you'd think Lexus HQ wouldn't allow anything other than a Lexus as a loaner. It's not good for the company's image as a whole to have other makes as loaners.

I'm glad the Lexus of Las Vegas has nothing but Lexus vehicles for loaners.

True, but don't expect the Toyota dealer to service your car when you have warranty issues.
