BMW to Build "Edition" Model M3s Starting this Summer

Starting with July 2009 production, BMW will offer the M3 Coupe with a special option package, thus far known only as "Edition" models. Four colors will be offered- Alpine White, Black, and Dakar Yellow for non-metallic colors, and Monte Carlo Blue in metallic finish. The special package will include a lower suspension, special wheels and unique interior and exterior finishes.
All will feature BMW's lightweight, forged, 19-inch double-spoke wheels, available in either black or traditional silver finish. On all but Dakar Yellow, there is also the option of while painted wheels with polished lips. The suspension has been lowered by an additional 10mm over the standard M3 coupe for a more dramatic look and better handling.
Outside, the M3 Edition models get blacked-out grilles; the "twin-kidney" frames, side gills and exhaust tips are finished in dark eloxy-plated chrome. The window shadowline is finished with BMW Individual's High-Gloss Satin Chrome trim, and the mirror caps are black with body-colored arms.
The real sex is in the interior, whose black leather upholstery is treated to contrasting leather trim. White and black cars get white accents on the center console, center armrest and door pulls. The seats are given the same attention with white panels on the upper backrest and leg rest. The black carbon-effect leather on the dashboard is stitched in contrasting white thread to finish off the effect. On Monte Carlo Blue and Dakar Yellow cars, the white trim will be body-colored instead. Door sill plates with the signature Checkered Flag Design bearing the M3 model designation finish off the interior trim.
While BMW states that the Edition models, which will only be produced for six months, will be distributed throughout the world, we're still waiting on confirmation that the US will offer the option package.
