Default 2009 Honda Civic LX-S

It appears that there are three new trims added to this model's lineup and I'm considering the LX-S since it has a slight sportier look than the rest other than the expensive SI which I feel is too much.

Do you guys think this is a good deal? Out the door total on top of 3.9% financing: $26,500.

What do you think? Too high? They want to give me the car for $19,500 , which I know is typically the average price dealer's "like" to sell them at. Do you feel there's room for negotiating? I think $19,500 is pretty much what the LX-S is priced at anyways....hmmmm.

that 19,500 can be negotiated. They're trying to hook you. Tell them 17k.

I'm actually buying it for my wife. She doesn't want to go too cheap on a car like a Kia or Hyundai, but something that's well priced and reliable. I figure a Honda Civic is pretty nice. I'm keeping the IS, definitely since it's nearly paid off.

Yeah, I thought so. $19,500 just seems high. I try to convice her to get a regular LX, but she likes the sportier model.

LX-S is $19400 MSRP unless your dealer tosses in a "pro pack" which is basically door edge moldings that cost the dealership $20 and other superfluous things.

Honda dealers are known to markup like crazy too.

With the way car sales are going right now, I'm sure you could get it for a lot less than that.

bad move trying to talk her into a lesser model if she wants the lx-s, cuz every time she sees one she'll blame you for her not having one.

look, u have a nice car, why not get her one?

Honda always slips in a mid-level model near the end of a car's life cycle--an "SE" or "VP" model, which has more stuff than an LX, but less than an EX.

So you drive a luxury car, and she gets an econobox which costs half as much? Wow--that is one special woman--don't let her go.

TRUST me... a Hyundai is not "cheap".... only in price... my Sonata V-6 Limited rivals my old IS250... at $13K cheaper too

Definately take the plunge, pay a little more and get the EX. you will regret the LX-S. The EX is not that much more and you get ALOT of features with it.

Hey, what do you guys think about the new 09 Sentra SE-R? I just got an offer for $17,500 @ 0% for 60-months. I told him to hold until I get a decision.

I don't know much about the CVT transmission, but it sounds wierd. I'm so use to the engine sound, but now, it's like a continuous sound. Is this tranny reliable?

^ I agree.

The EX trim is the only way to go.

Plus, don't think your getting an LX-S for $17K like some have suggested. You can't even get a Fit Sport for that. And Honda doesn't give away cars at a loss, they don't need to. It's not a Chevy Civic.

NO NO NO! Check the SE-R's reliability ratings. JUNK. Interiors are a$$ as well, but thats JMO. CR and motor trend dont lie, reliability wise, the Chevy malibu would be better. LOL.

If you negotiate right, you can walk out the door with a brand new '09 EX Loaded (minus leather and nav) for 20-21K.

the EX includes:

16-Inch Alloy Wheels
Solid Rear Disc Brakes
One-Touch Power Moonroof with Tilt Feature
60/40 Split Fold-Down Rear Seats
Steering Wheel-Mounted Audio Controls
USB Audio Interface
Outside Temperature Gauge

1-Inch Dome Tweeters

Power Door Locks with Auto-Lock Feature
Security System with Remote Entry
Cruise Control with Steering Wheel-Mounted Controls
Power Windows with Auto-Up/Down Driver's Window
Standard Floor Mats
Body-Colored Power Door Mirrors
Sliding Center Armrest
160-Watt AM/FM/CD 6-Speaker Audio System-(ABSOLUTELY SUPERB sound quality for a 20k car. Best I have heard in its class by far. Puts the JBL systems in the fully loaded camry's to SHAME. there is no need for the premium audio upgrade.)

Air Conditioning with Air-Filtration System
MP3/Windows Media® Audio (WMA®) Playback Capability4
MP3/Auxiliary Input Jack

140-hp, 1.8-Liter, SOHC i-VTEC® Engine
ULEV-2 (Ultra-Low-Emission Vehicle)2
MacPherson Strut Front Suspension
Multi-Link Rear Suspension
Daytime Running Lights (DRL)
Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) Body Structure
Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD)
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
Dual-Stage, Dual-Threshold Front Airbags (SRS)
Front Side Airbags with Passenger-Side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS)
Driver’s and Front Passenger’s Active Head Restraints

My favorite options are bolded. For those that dont know, I have an EX, and very little has changed between 06 and this MY. just something to think about. OH! and be sure to run a good oil, 5w20...this motor calls for it, and mine routinely yeilds over 50MPG on the freeway, eliminating the need for a hybrid. I went 552 miles on 10.986 gallons of gas last month going to virginia. I was AMAZED at 50.24mpg .

Thats a BUTTLOAD of options for ~$21,000 USD OTD.

EDIT: With these options listed above, and a $20,775+TTL price, at 3.9% with $2,000 down and no trade in you are looking at about:
