Really glad I don't live in VA BTW.
Agreed, I don't want my constitutional rights to receive over the airwaves trampled either.

In CA I run a Passport 8500 for long trips only, with excellent results.

they see it so what, so many times chp and cops pass by me with my radar high up on the windshield.

Valentine 1 hands down. If you can hard wire in that would be great. I use a detector myself in my beater (Integra), it's a cheap one but does the job. I will be getting a Valentine 1 for the SC once the weather starts breaking and I drive it more.

Hands down on V1. Having those arrows takes away the guessing game compared to other units without it.

I run both the Valentine 1 and Escort 8500 X50 in my Accord. They are both mounted high next to the rearview mirror (hardwired) and work very well. The Valentine 1 has a longer range compared to the X50, but it drives me insane when I drive in a large city where there are several radar signatures (Lowes, Home Depot, most automatic doors); although the arrows are very useful. There has been a few times that the X50 will pick up a cop's radar before the Valentine, although that has been rare. Valentine also has one of the better windshield mounts unless you go custom.

Nothing beats the $399 Valentine One in radar and laser detection in the under $500 radar detector category.

You can't run two or more detectors at the same time because they interfere with each other and it will affect the range or possibly make them not alert at all.

Hate to bump this up, but the Passport 8500, has there been any situations where it has failed, or failed constantly. These are like 300 bucks and i would like to get good input before i buy it

With the increased use of laser, I'm wondering if we need to upgrade our technical detector equipment. Obviously the speed measurement technology and the detection technology continues to advance.
