This is terrible news for me.

My automotive dream would be a world without chrysler products.

Now they get another lifeline.

Regarding predictions on this, we can hearken to MB buying in.

It sounded fine they what happened. MB quality tanked and they made the R class out of the pacifica. That was followed by off loading to John Snow (is he all three heads of the three headed cerberus monster?)

With the market tanking I figured my next shot at retirement was a website/forum abut how chrysler was shrinking model by model with lots of galleries of crashed ones, broken ones by the side of the road, repoed ones, videos of chrysler drivers holding up traffic because driving them lowers your mental acuity, turning without signalling, eating while driving, making calls while driving, etc.

Now that idea is out the window

Next idea, have new caddy limo like pres got built and rent for nights out it Chicago.

Since my retirement nest egg is rapidly shrinking, if your idea for the Caddy limo works, out I'm available to work as a driver.

At least you can be safe in the knowledge that it looks like if the deal happens, all us taxpayers will have to borrow $3B to throw at Cerberus first.

Chrysler-Fiat Deal Contingent on $3 Billion U.S. Loan, WSJ Says

Jan. 21 (Bloomberg) -- Chrysler LLC, the struggling U.S. automaker that agreed to trade a 35 percent stake to Italy’s Fiat SpA for access to small-car technology and a global sales network, needs $3 billion in additional loans from the U.S. government, the Wall Street Journal said, citing people familiar with the agreement.

The deal becomes binding only when Chrysler gets the financial help from Washington, the report said.

I wonder where that $3B will go? Could buy a lot of pasta.

I would've taken 35% stake in Chrysler for free too.

Good catch! It also was a disaster. I still don't see why anyone would want to get in bed with Chrysler? Fiat though MUST see some potential somewhere.

It's a cheap date, no loss to Fiat if Chrysler decides to go psycho one night stand. That's how long Chrysler will last.

From what I read Fiat needs the dealership base.
