Whew: the dreaded check engine light has been solved on my car and wanted to share with everyone because it could be so many expensive things. My mechanic felt that (after resetting the light several times) that it must be both cats. I bit the bullet and found a guy who know his stuff cheap and he torched them off and welded new ones on. The cats are only about a foot long and a bit difficult to cut out and weld back (since oem is flange fit). However, he did use aftermarket cats and the problem has been solved...over 300 miles and no check engine light...i am relieved! When they hit the cement floor when he cut them off, a whole bunch of black flakey stuff came out of them so they were for sure stopped up. Only 75K on this car and they were amazed that the cats got bad before like 150K...but they were bad. Hope this helps someone.
