Not a big bike guy, but I thought the Busa was the top dog in street bikes. Again, before someone freaks out, I am not a motorcycle guy. ( I had 2 family members who were ER doctors and I used to hear the horror stories )

i was in similar shoes a few months back.. i came to this forum asking about bikes... and i'm looking for a 600cc...
phil, and a lot of the other guys(even a MSF instructor) said i should get a smaller bike. and after buying my 600CC and after taking my MSF class, i think they were right. i'm planning on taking the MSF again because i haven't ride in a year after the MSF..
After getting my 07 Yamaha R6, i realized it was too much of a bike for me... but i have friends that teaches me and not pushes me. i been going slow the last two weeks and maybe for another month or so i'll hit the streets..
always remember:
start slow before it's too fast to handle,
never go faster than your guardian angle...

just for curiosity sake, how much do these bikes cost, and what does the insurance cost for a 19 year old on one of these machines? I too would not endorse buying such a machine at that age, i think it is like combining matches and gasoline. If you do purchase one, i wish you the best. Dont these bikes go like 200+. You know if you have one you will be wanting to see if that is true. When you think about trying it remember people that dont even know you have warned against it. BE CAREFUL!

The bikes cost around $12-13k. I wouldn't be surprised if insurance was around $2k/yr for someone under 25 yrs of age. I remember back about 10 yrs ago someone told me his supersport 600 was like $2500/yr or something crazy. Keep in mind the 600s back then weren't nearly as insane as they are now.

Most likely you will either kill yourself, or scare/injure yourself so badly that you will never sit on another motorcycle again. Do you know how to countersteer? Friction zone on a motorcycle clutch? 70/30 brakeing? You do not want to be LEARNING on a hypersport. Panic and grab the front brake, and you are going over the front end with your quarter ton motorcycle likely landing on top of you. A little throttle error and you are at 80 mph in 1st gear quicker than your brain can register.
Make a mistake and they will give you a lesson you will not forget.
These bikes are not designed for learners. Period.

here is what some of us at a motorcycle forum said about this idea: http://pnwriders.com/general-discussion/96322-n00b-dilemma-busa-zx-14-need-advice.html#post1559827

I rode a crotch rocket at 19, insurance was not expensive. The thinking is anyone you hit isn't going to get damaged too much, your body will take most of the impact.
I would say Busa cause back in my day (90's) the Ninja line was always considered a joke, like a relict of Top Gun and the 80's. Busa's will always be in demand.
But honestly, unless you can live with one leg, lots of scars, I wouldn't risk it, been there done that. Too friggen dangerous, esp 1000cc monsters. Had one friend fly off the road and hit a tree, died in the heli flight. Another was just driving carefully and hit some dirt in the road, went flying. I layed mine down twice in 6 mos and just about smashed into the back of a tow truck at 135MPH on the freeway. Oh, also ran over a re-tread tire when I switched lanes and the car in front of me just drove over it so I couldn't see it until I hit it at about 70MPH. Sold the bike a week later. Unless you are going to be on a controlled track, I wouldn't ride a bike on the roads in So Cal.
