I never said affordable. We have to start somewhere. First electric cars will not be affordable. Just like 'first' everything else.

I'm sure Lightning GT will sell like hotcakes for a 300,000 $ supercar. I think Lexus should make the LF-A electric and produce like 500 a year, not a total run of 500. That car is awesome looking and with Lithium Titanate batteries rich people will ****** it up. Plus it will not have to compete with the Ferraris etc directly in comparo tests, while easily matching the acceleration, handling (if not better since electric has more potential).

Plus, Rolls Royce is making a electric version of the Phantom. It doesn't matter how much it will cost, I think Lexus should get in on some of that action.

An electric limo to compete with the Phantom and a electric supercar would be huge for Lexus in many ways. Popularity, green cred, the status that would come with being in that $300,000+ market segment. I think this is the PERFECT chance for Lexus to break into the $300,000 market. They won't get it done with conventional technology head-to-head (or it will be harder). Something revolutionary would give them a reason to be in that market and would open some eyes. Plus the only drawback as far as I can see for Lithium Titanate batteries is that they are very expensive because they are not mass produced yet. That would get the ball rolling.

I know Lexus is #1 with the hybrids. But I guess they were even more revolutionary.

I agree. It wouldnt be very cost effective

it'd be about as cost effective as any supercar. An electric LF-A with 700 horses with batteries that can be charged up in 10 minutes. C'mon now don't tell me Ferrari bosses would not lose a lot of sleep over that. That car would get snatched up for $300,000 or whatever.

And since Rolls Royce is building a electric Phantom I say Lexus needs to join the party in the $300,000 luxury sedan department and kick Rolls Royce in the *****. They might not be able to with a gasoline car, the whole prestige, history blah blah blah thing. But if Lexus will ever have a chance to break into the ultra luxury $300,000+ market, it is right now with an electric luxo limousine and an electric supercar. Both would cost crazy money but so does a Phantom and a Lamborghini Murcielago.
