Default WD-40 eat away paint?

this might sound stupid, but i am just paranoid....

long story short, i greased the chains of the garage door and drove the car right underneath it...

5 hours later there is wd-40 drips all over my IS.

just want confirmation that the lubricant will not eat away the clearcoat... after all its only oil right??

thanks

It's OK, just wipe it off.

And why use it on wheels?? WD40 attracts dirt.

look up......

yeah, I once de-badged a friend's car with WD40, no worries, best to wipe it off, if possible, wash it....

if you feel you might've ruined the wax, use Dawn to wash the car, then re apply the wax

i sure hope they are cleaning the wheels off the car, wouldn't want to spray lubricant all over the brakes........... wd-40 has petroleum distillates in it, i would not leave it on the paint long.

Don't use WD40 on your brakes, like someone says, it's lubricant, however, you need friction on your brakes.
You can use brake clean spray, it's different.

oops sorry i didn't read the 2nd post

but yeah, don't use wd40 for cleaning brakes. on the other hand, break clean spray, do NOT put them on wheels, not a good idea. sometimes they are quite abrasive
