Sorry about that i guess. Just responding to the question brought up about the legality of the checkpoint itself, thread title is 'Wife got checked at a DUI checkpoint today...' In Washington state those checkpoints are illegal, I was just pointing out the difference between the restrictions of the state and city police vs. the border patrol when it comes to checkpoints.
Does that go on their military record if the offenses were commited off of the base or on civil property, and it's not MP's catching them?
An off-base offense - even a fairly minor one - can incur a military legal action. I've seen commanding officers who had a zero toleration policy.
I once did the legal documentation on the court martial and dishonorable discharge of a career army sergeant for writing bad checks. By the time the sergeant was dishonorably discharged, he was a Private E-1.
