Subarus must not be sold there.........they would be high on the list if they were.
And it's interesting to see Opel that high on the list. Here in the U.S., Opel-derived products, represented mainly by some of the newer Saturns, are all average or below average in reliability.

wow... in past 2 years Toyota has been excellent 2nd or 3rd... now it seems they are back to the top.

Autobild is very important because they mix their own reliability test (100,000km with car), their user reports, manufacturer recalls and TSB's, official TUV and ADAC statistics and few other things as well.

Believe it or not MB is actually doing a lot better than before, but BMW has slipped.... Opel went up as well.

VW is where they were for last several years (last year they were 14th).

Ford went down significantly (4-5 years ago they were the best german brand) and french and italians were were they always were... at the bottom... some things never change.

Opel, I agree, is hard to figure out, but Hyundai builds some good stuff nowadays....every recent Hyundai product I've looked at or driven, I've been pleased with. Gone are the days when their vehicles were cheap junk.....that went out in the late 1990's. Mitsubishi, likewise, is building some good stuff now, too, though their reputation never was as low as Hyundai's was back in the 80's and 90's.

All Mitsus over there are made in Japan unlike here in US where only Lancer and Outlander are imports

Good job to Toyota...perhaps this was unlike other 'quality' studies from the Continent which more factor in driver feelings? Also I'm guessing Lexus was too small a sample size to be separately included?

we are talking about pure reliability of 3-7 year old cars here, not about how easy is to turn on radio or crap like that... this is true reliability study that uses several different reputable sources, including their own.

MB has never done well in these Autobild studies...

Subarus are sold in Germany, but I assume they must not sell in sufficient numbers to count as a major brand in this survey (like Lexus). I agree with you though, they'd be in the top 5 as they are in the UK.

The Germans have a high regard for Japanese cars when it comes to reliability, generally ranking Toyota (even the ones made in the UK!)above their own domestic marques.

Yes, I'm aware of that. I'm not just talking about how easy it is to adjust the stereo. The Infiniti M35/45, for example, has a hard-to-use, I-Drive style dash "controller" for the stereo, but is well above average in reliability....probably the most reliable vehicle the company makes.

I am not surprised that MB is where it is.

Nor Toyota.

The only one that did surprise me is Opel.

Too bad Porsche isn't up there yet.

I'd like to see how they do ;D
