it is but everything's a learning experience.

as long as they learn from everyone elses established mistakes and shortcomings, they'll have more time to figure out all the other kinks they have and be better.

Older Honda trannies were pretty durable if not jerky. It was when Honda introduced the 1998 Accord V6 and 1999 Odyssey they were having huge issues.

I think Hyundai needs to introduce a luxury brand and take advantage of such moves without its current quality stigma (or lack thereof).

Let Kia be the entry level, Hyundai be mass market, and create that luxury division for further distinction. I think it's no longer an option; it's a necessity.
I'm not convinced. Establishing a luxury brand - especially now - would probably not pay back very well for Hyundai. The space is already crowded and if cars like the Genesis and Azera had luxury nameplates the prices would have to rise to justify the creation of the brand thus eliminating the one point on which Hyundai is challenging the established luxury brands - value.

Keep in mind that Hyundai planned supercharging or turbocharging the Tau V8 / Genesis since the beginning. The engine and vehicle is well more than capable of handling a LOT of power..
