Default Discover Genesis Event

I just got back from a Genesis road test event at Phoenix International Raceway. I'm really impressed with the Genesis. There was a short road course the we were allowed to drive in the 2 models of the Genesis and 2 competetive cars. The competetive cars were a Mercedes E550 with sport package and a Cadillac CTS.

The star of the show was the V8 Genesis. The Cadillac was the tail ender in all of the drives where I talked to the drivers. The Mercedes was the fastest in acceleration, but otherwise it did no compare very well with the Genesis.

Genesis was by far the quietest, best riding, and roomiest car there. Compared to my ES350, the V8 Genesis was far superior in room, ride, quiet, and acceleration. There were no salesmen there, just people gathering data. My next car may well be a Genesis based on value. The loaded V8 had a sticker price of $42000 or about $3000 less than my UL ES350. It is larger, quieter, faster, and more luxurious than my car.

I think the Genesis will do o.k, especially the V6.

To compare the speed of the V8 Genesis with a V6 ES350 or CTS is a bit unfair though. I would like to see comparisons with the V6 instead.

The CTS was there to compare with the V6 Genesis, but it had a higher list price than the V8 Genesis. The GS350 is about $8000 more than the V8 Genesis and has a much smaller interior and trunk. I did not compare the GS350 to the Genesis on the same course, but having driven the GS several times, I believe the Genesis not only rides much better, but handles better.

I guess I'll wait a couple of years until it's half its original price used.

Are they conducting these test drives all over the country? I remember when Cadillac used to do these all the time.

I went to the one in Miami and it was terrible. I love the car (the Genesis), but Hyundai doesn't know how to put these events together. It's NOTHING like the ones Lexus does. Where I went, there was ONE Genesis inside - where EVERYONE was crowded around the one vehicle. The road course on the outside was okay. There was no food like at Lexus events. Only water and some energy drink. I guess I had higher expectations coming out of a recent Lexus event..

I would love to check out the new genesis. It reminds me of the release of the LS in 89-90. we all thought it was just a benz copy and didnt know what to think. I have a feeling we are going to be seeing some solid products coming from hyaudai. the new platform that the genesis coupe and sedan will evolve with time into a better and better car.
