...So like 2-3 months ago i was up early one sunday to hit the canyons before all the squids & other idjits made it up there & attracted all the cops


& on my way home i rolled past an apoparent huge car meet about a mile from my house.... in a parking lot off the 101 freeway & Mulholland there is a little general car meet every sunday.... it turns out this is a regular deal & every last sunday of the month is the BIG ONE where you get a **** load of really trick cars.. of all types and models....


from Aston martins to Mclaren SLR's to Turbo E30 Bmw's Trick Vipers, Mazeratis Lamborghinis Feraris Old school original Cobra 427's with race history, to **** straight outta Chitty Chitty Bang Bang or Around the world in 80 Days, then there are the badass full on Muscle cars with GIGANTIC fully polished 7litre blown v8's & what not ...

It is pretty freeking COOL and a damn ZOO every last sunday of the mo. it starts at like 8:30 am & is over by noon usually when every one heads up to the canyons or the beach to cruise...


Many local clubs roll out so there is the Mini group & the EVo group & the Sti's, Beemer clubs, ferrari clubs u name it... mainly VERY High end cars to Very nicely built up mid range rides...

So I roll in on labor day & took video as i drove all the way around the lot & filmed everything from the car & then i took pics & some more video while rolling around

As folks left i moved the car to a more central location & I heard Jay Leno had shown up..... next thing i know he walks right past me & is super cool taking pics with people & quickly checks out some of the cars.... He hung out for over an hour easy.... he was alone with the tribe as far as i could tell, no entourage..no 'hangers-on'.. i think there was one guy on another bike with him... .

& get this...he rolls up on a damn JET turbine powered motorcycle...!!! this thing was INSANE.. i am sure you can find details on it on line somewhere... i have pics.. more on this later... He stops about 20 feet away chilling with a guy who must have been a buddy with a absolutely perfect Lambo Miura SV ( the GOOD one !)

So, I am talking with another guy about his perfect supraTT...& next thing i know I turn around & Jay is fully checking out my ride.... he is loving the engine bay & then he checks out the interior & say's "Damn there is alot going on here!" ..

I say ''Jay,.. I'm Honored that a true car freak like you even paused to check out my humble little IS....can I get a picture"?.

He says "sure...this thing is awesome....what the hell is it & who did all the work?...

hahah... "its a honda" i say ... & I did 90% of it myself.

I was about to pop with pride, so my buddy took a few snaps of me & jay with my car...




One of the worlds most famous entertainers & a BONA FIED Car fanatic, if not definitely one of the coolest "Car Guys" who ever earned the name Was lovin on my little beast!!

So after the pics I told him it was a lexus & totally custom & he checks out the car thoroughly & chats a bit about it with me ... then he was outta there....& he hopped on the Jet bike...

As he is leaving the thing blows a seal & starts puking smoke like a drag car... he pulls it over & the cops roll up to see who is setting the street on fire .... next thing he is rolling it back to the parking lot right next to me & he is off the bike & out of his helmet & jacket instantly & on his back in the hot sun checking out WTF is going on under the bike... then he jumps up & is covered with oil & soot & what not. & says "Oh well"

I have much respect & appreciation for the guy he is truly a gear head, is super cool... he just happens to have oh...a couple hundred million I am sure by now to indulge his passion. I would do the EXACT same thing...




the beast in its current "transitional/Leno approved" form... many changes coming just in time for EOS-7.... 6 days away!!! .

 

Jay ain't nutting but an old car dude that got a break in the biz and now has money to buy everything he always wanted. No uptight movie star that thinks their shizzle don't stink. It's been long documented that he could give a flip about the black tux crowd, he's an old greaser with some cash.

I'd love to take a tour of his garage........

man that is a great story. it must feel good for a real car guy who can buy anything he wants say that he realy likes your car and what you've done with it.
btw, i saw one of thsoe jet powered bikes at a meet in phoenix about 5 years ago. at the time there were only 8 in the world and jay was the first to own one. the guy who owned the one i saw was just a regular dude apparently with lots of money! he said it runs on either jet a or diesel fuel!
it was definteily one of the sickest sounding things on wheels i've ever heard. they say they dno't even know the top speed of it because nobody could stay on it to reach it's terminal velocity. that was in 03 though, so who knows what happened now. i believe he said they were made in mississippi or alabama.
good story though, adn your car is very very nice.

 

The bike is a y2k turbine powered bike, it's pretty sweet Allegedly the exhaust on the bike runs so hot that at a stop light, Leno actually melted some guys front bumper...
