Default Your Experience with ..Lexus CPO Vehicles !!!

I am thinking of purchasing a Lexus CPO certified vehicle.

What has been you experience with LExus CPO vehicles?
Are they fully inspect and high quality?

Or is it just "half-a$$" inspection with only a quick look-over.

What has been your experience with Lexus CPO vehicles???

I had a CPO IS300 a few years ago. The condition of the car when I got it can only be best described as new. There was truly no marks/stains/ANYTHING on the exterior or interior. Maybe I just got a good one but I was very impressed.

CPO = Certified PRe-Owned

It's a Lexus was of saying "We certified this used Lexus vehicle, and give it a warranty."

im not fond of used vehicles in general. god knows what the previous person did to/in the car. but i guess you have to trust that they did do the full 100 and some odd number of inspections. but with all used cars, you should take it to an independant specialist and have them check it out for structural rigidity and engine condition.

its very easy for the previous owner to neglect the car if they knew they were going to trade it in. also ask for service records to see if it was serviced at a lexus dealership.

you might as well get CPO rather than not, seeing as how you may want the warranty

Great buys. The dealer treats it as a new car purchase and the warrenty is LONGER than buying a new Lexus, at 100k miles.

Used cars scare me only cause of what I've seen but CPO are just like new cars but still used, not only is the warranty extended but they also throw in some extra perks you usually pay for with a new car.

Make sure their is a 30-90 days return policy, just in case you find something that is costly to repair and makes you uncomfortable to continue driving the car request that the minor/major service interval has been performed 15/30/45k, always gotta ask cause the dealers easily forget, but it should have been done, once you own the car your now a paying customer tires should be new.

Just test drive the cars and they should drive and look like new, including paint that feels like wet glass.

Once you officially own it keep an eye on the engine oil color, from the 1st 5 miles on the oil, to 500 and then a 1000 miles on the oil, it should stay relatively clean, if it turns black then I would raise hell.

Good luck, great finds are out their

My first Lexus (96 GS300) was a CPO vehicle. The car itself was ultra clean. The warranty and loaners gave me piece of mind.

The point that really made it worthwhile was my tranny failure. I'd reocated to MA and got caught on black ice a few times. I didn't know that rocking the car out of ice was death for the tranny.

I was on my way to my first Clublexus meet, I meet with member ONE HOT and my car just stopped. Tranny was dead, with 99k miles on the clock.

Lexus towed my car from Brooklyn NY to MA, fixed the tranny, and I had a brand new loaner for the entire time. I never spent a dime.

The bill for tranny was 7k by the way.

With respect to the CPO warranty...what does it cover?
Is it like the bumper to bumper factory warranty?? or does it cover much less.

Feedback is really appreciated....

What?!? Isn't that unfair for the new car buyers?

Well, it's not 'unfair', the new car buyer has a new car that has never been driven before, the CPO owner is driving something that someone else used and can't be sure exactly the history of the car. Personally, I would never buy new as I save just way too much money buying CPO.

That being said, I don't believe the CPO checks every little thing. For instance, 4 years ago when I bought my wife her CPO RX300 it looked good as new. 2 months later it has a flat tire. Open the hatch and lift the floor to take the spare out and there is the spare with a HUGE gash on it's side. No way it will take any air, and it is clearly visable to the naked eye. Lexus Roadside assistance said they were going to have to charge me for a new tire. I told them replace it while I call the dealer I bought it from and told him he's getting a $300 invoice. It was all taken car of, but when something easy like that was passed up I don't have the greatest feelings on how well they check these cars over.

I think they spawned the whole trend of CPO and other manufacturers saw how accepted it was and created the new industry term of "certified". Of course that term is WAY overused now.

I know in the beginning when they were trying to grow the program they were very particular about following the protocol but now I am not so sure how diligent they are but I do know they tightened the strings a bit cuz under their original program they were losing alot of money. I'd say read the fine print I dont think its as generous as a new car warranty but definitely better than an aftermarket.

i have been very happy with our 1998 LS400. it was purchased as a CPO in 2001. the car has been extremely reliable.

a lot of people dont know one thing about CPO vehicles - some of them may have been wrecked. a lexus sales manager told me "lexus will certify the car if the frame HAS NOT been damaged". he took us to the back of the dealership and showed us some of the "wrecked" cars waiting to be certified. most of the damage was real minor, nothing major. he was just being honest with us, and we appreciated that. this was back in 2001, i don't know if this is still true today.

my point is, even if the car has been in an accident, it will be a fine vehicle if lexus certifies it. i highly recommend CPO vehicles.

We have a CPO 2003 SC430 purchased last year.

The warranty is outstanding. It started to leak water into the trunk and I took it in to the local service department. The SA noted the problem, and took the car. I got a brand new ES350 with a full tank and a fresh car wash.

They replaced the trunk seal and it still leaked. They then replaced the top seal and that fixed it. It took them a week and a half to finally resolve the issue.

They returned the car with a full tank, a fresh wash, a dry trunk and the entire thing cost exactly $0.00.

Extremely satisfied.

Oh, the warranty is for 100k but only also for 3 years. Whichever you hit first. Some say it's not fair for new car buyers. I just think it shows Lexus is *very* confident in their cars, as they should be.

CPO cars are usually a little more expensive but it's worth it for the piece of mind if you have the means. You should still Carfax and fully inspect the car. Our SC430 unfortunately had the bumpers repainted at some two-bit hack-n-paint body shop down the street complete with clearcoat runs, overspray and mismatched paint color.

I had to raise hell in there and they took the car back and repainted the bumpers. I don't blame the CPO program for that one tho, I blame the particular dealer.

Inspect, inspect, inspect! CPO only means you get a sweet warranty and Lexus service. Otherwise treat it like you were buying at any corner used car lot. Go over the whole thing with a fine tooth comb.

Maybe so, but with a 3 year/100,000 total vehicle milege bumper to bumper warranty, this is not a typical used car.
