It was really refreshing to see on the road!
Well during the same era, they had the massive boat-like coupes. Lincoln Mark, Buick Riviera, Cadillac Eldorado.
I like coupes in all shapes and sizes. Except when they have more than two doors... (CLS, X6, RX-8, Saturn Ion)

That generation Camaro first appeared as 70 1/2 model, the split bumpers were very popular but didn't last long, I think gov regs forced them to install a full bumper the next year.

The split bumper was part of the Rally Sport (RS) package. The standard, SS, and Z28 models all had full bumpers. Unless, of course, they also had the RS package. This applied to 1970, 1971, 1972, and 1973 models.

How fast are these classic Camaros?

I had some fun with a 60's convertible model near Malibu Beach a while ago. It's driven by an older gentleman with a kid and his dog in the rear seat.

This black example looked 100% flawless and worn shiny redwall tires w/ chrome caps. On the curvy Pacific Coast Highway, I had serious trouble keeping up with him in my CL.

I know that my CL can haul ***, even though the 20' rims might have slowed it for a bit. But with a kid and a pet in it, the Camaro was just amazing.
