Default Buick Lacrosse. yeah

they tried to make it look like the 2GS, but failed miserably. they took a GS and just stretched it in a few places, resulting in this distorted thing:

If THIS is the only demographic you are referring to, like much of the auto press does in their view of Buick, that is incorrect........you can toss that stereotype right out the window.

Buicks are designed for anyone, of any age, who likes roomy, quiet, fairly easy-riding, comfortable cars. I had two used ones, myself, in my own youth. And the new ones, despite having better fit/finish that the ones they replace, do ride a little stiffer and handle a little better then the older ones.

I too have owned several Buicks as company cars. Within the rather tight spec my company offered, it was possible to create a pretty decent commuter and highway cruiser out of a rather pedestrian LeSabre - considerably more so than the Pontiac, Olds, and Fords that were my options.

Lexus owners tend to get a little snobby about "Detroit Iron", but you have to realize when comparing a comparatively-optioned upper-middle range LaCrosse CXS to even a base GS 350, you are talking about a price gap (chasm is more like it) of $14,000 - enough difference to buy a second new car if you don't set your sights too high.

Buick is providing a good product for the price.

5.3 liter V8 that makes 300hp and 323ft/lbs of torque...

oh, all directed through the two front wheels? And gets 16/23mpg? No thanks. Did I also mention it's available only as a 4AT?

I'd much rather have a base model Pontiac G8 over it.

I think we had a thread on this a couple years ago. I actually like the entire Buick lineup right now and think they are pretty much on par with Acura.

As for age, some would argue the Lexus owner is not much younger

i always forget that buick still makes stuff ... i agree w. 1sick that they're about where acura is ... its a nice car, but not a lux car ... and if you want a new car that is nice, but can't quiet get into the lux segment, then the almost-lux lines are what you want ... better & nicer than a 'sensible' car (accord, camry, that type) but not quite as pricy as the lexus/bimmer type
