Default epoxy garage coatings

I just bought a new house with a 3 car garage. Do you guys have any advice for installing epoxy garage floor coatings? Also, is there anyone out there that has done up there garge like a showroom? If so let's see it. I am looking for ideas to clean it up.

We have done epoxy in our two car garage. We went to Home Depot and bought an Installshield (I think thats what it was called) box including this acid like thing to clean your garage, the paint, and these chips to sprinkle on top of the epoxy when drying.

I am very pleased with how it turned out. I think the installing kit was $50 for one car garage but somehow it was enough paint for both of our car garages (maybe we didnt apply that thick of a coat even though we rolled it on).

The service of the company is also very good. We had a piece of epoxy come off because of the hot tires and they told us to mail them just a piece of the epoxy that came off. We mailed it to them and they said that we can either send you a small kit to paint over that or just refund you the entire cost of the epoxy. So we opted for the refund and we got the check soon after.

Very good company to work with and not so hard to install. Since your garage is new, it should not even be that hard to clean. We installed epoxy after our house was 6-7 years old.

I hope this helps a bit. Congrats on the purchase of your house!

actually it is a repo or foreclosure house so it has oil stains and stuff. I am cleaning the concrete right now with etcher and that stuff is strong.

Just a tip.......After you roll on the epoxy and are ready to add the flakes..... Don't spread it out in the palm of your hand like you are spreading sand. Take some in your hand and throw it at the ceiling of the garage and it will fall much more evenly over the floor. Trust me......

I did the home depot one in my 6 car garage, and the stuff was garbage. I didn't do their standard silver color, had them custom blend me Ferrari red. Took a week to take it off, and they refunded all my money, but not my labor.

Bought this stuff from Muscle GLoss, was 186$ per gallon, but well worth it, perfect for what I was going for.

My walls are all yellow, floor is all red. Had it 2 years, not a single problem.

I don't have great pics here at work, but here is one I posted on the LS forum last night with parts on the floor

EDIT: For old house make sure you do a full acid floor wash.

I also did the Lowes rustoleum kit with flakes (actually I hired a high school kid and let him do it!). Came out good but after 2+ years I'm beginning to see some wear. I think I want like a clear polyurethane coat or something that's basically indestructible.

Thought I would bump this thread and see if anyone had done this Epoxy thing lately. Just bought a house and a buddy had 2 kits left over from when he did his garage floor in 2006. I called the company already and the kits are still good. Good for 5 years.

Anyone have tips or examples of their garage and pictures to go along? I love pics and will take some to show my whole process step by step. It seems very easy just time consuming. We will see, I always manage to screw something up.......

I will try this. The biggest question I had was how to apply these damn flakes! I want it to look even and clean and so far this sounds like the best idea. I just wonder what my new neighbors will think when I'm throwing this Pixie Dust looking crap in the air. Hahaha.

If you want a "showroom" like garage you need to go with tile or what my parents did with their eight car garage was marble flooring. You get what you pay for; marble flooring is the absolute best.
