Call me foolish for creating my own thread, but every single sub forum on here has mention of the SC 430 dying in some form or another.

As someone who has seen product plans for every model as far out as 2012, I can whole heartedly assure ALL of you that the SC 430 is not going anywhere until late 2011 when it will receive a revamp as an all new 2012 model.

No, the car is not high volume. No, they aren't updating it again. No, the LFA and IS coupe/conv are not being pegged as replacement models for the SC...and NO the SC isn't dying.

It's on a 10 year model cycle like the old car was. Yeah it's getting long in the tooth but it's still hard to find a better all weather luxury cruiser hardtop convertible.

I hate to see it go too.
But maybe it will just like the last time, first Gen SC stopped production in 2000, and then SC430 came out again in 2002.

Lexus need high end coupe/convertible.
Bring us CL like big convertible!

 

SC430 came out Spring of 2001 as an early 2002 model. The car was sold out for a year when it launched . . .

 

If they want this car to sell they must build one with a backseat again but with more space this time.
A 2 seater isn't pratical.

 

They need to make an SC350 non-hardtop version.

The car is just out of fashion. Maybe it was sort of slick in 2002, but it's
more than half way through 2008 already!

 

The SC ain't dead. It isn't a beloved Lexus by all and the naysayers are VERY vocal about this car, but also have as much car knowledge as my pinky toe.

"its ugly and silly"
"its old and underpowered"

Blah blah blah.

This $66+K car looks plain and now comes basically 'loaded' with almost no options.



And can Lexus please SHOOT the SC wheel designer? The first pie plates are now gone, replaced by these horrible things.

I think the current SC should die sooner. Its not very nice looking on the outside. The interior is amazing, but those damn wheels......WOW they are funky. The car is exspensive, impractical, kind of under powered, and old. Please lexus give us a new SC. Something that blew us all away like the first gen V8 powered SC. That was BIG TIME. This 2nd gen SC looks like it needs to be cracked and scrambled. lol!!

OK, so it has been assured by someone with direct inside information who has seen the development plans that the entirely new revamped SC will be here in 2011 as a 2012 model. With that being right around three years from today, it seems like the design studies should be hitting the press release and auto show circuit about, now.
